13 Reasons Why Author Reveals ORIGINAL Ending

If you haven’t finished the Netflix series don’t worry their won’t be any spoilers ahead but we are going to dive into how the books series almost ended in a drastically different way. As we know, Hannah Baker is a high school student who takes her own life, but it wasn’t always suppose to end that way. During the books 10th anniversary edition author Jay Asher reveals that Hannah actually survives in the original ending. In that version she attempts to kill herself by swallowing pills but was ultimately saved by her parents walking in who then took her to the hospital to get her stomach pumped. Arthur says quote, I liked the idea of ‘We’ve learned something from this. And yet, here’s a second chance,' however he goes on to say “Out of seriousness for the issue, we realized we can’t go there,” he explains. “No matter that there were missed opportunities for her. Those opportunities aren’t there if you do this. Once I realized that the message of the story would be stronger and that it would definitely be more of a cautionary tale. I felt that was definitely the way to go.
The show has certainly affected us all but it also really hit home for Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards. Perrie took to twitter writing quote, “They way they got the message across was amazing, and although I found it upsetting and massively disturbing, I feel like every person going to school/high school should watch it,”

As someone who tried to commit suicide multiple times, the ending they chose is the one that is most effective. I read the book while in recovery and I always have a copy of the book close to me. Always. When you try and it doesn't work, people treat you differently. Not good differently. They are still mean and all that awful stuff. But removing Hannah completely. Making sure that they see what they are doing and that she will never get to do because of unkind people. It creates a hard spot in you and you realize what you do effects others to the point of them not wanting to exist and to leave this huge hole and turmoil among friends and family if just to get away from bullying.

if they kept the "orginal" ending for the series they could've done a lot more in my opinion. like thats why they were all so scared of the tapes getting out because hannah can now vouch for them but she is in a coma

I don't understand why so many people wanted this show taken off of Netflix and forever. You have to understand this happens in real life and you can't just sugarcoat it and pretend it never happens when people take there live daily. I am very happy this show is on Netflix and I think it's a good understanding for people with depression.

There was way too many cliffhangers for their not to be a season 2. I kinda need it tbh. I wanna know what happens with everyone. I need to actually see that prick thrown in jail.

As much as I would have loved to see her live and have a happy ending with Clay, the message would not have been as strong.

Season2- Will Justin find a place to stay? Will Alex survive? How will Jess tell her dad? Will they have the original ending in season 2? Will Clay date Skye? I put myself in the story when I watch shows so I miss Hannah and wish her and clay could be together. Anyone put themselves in the story?
