RIP Shelley Duvall. She will always be remembered for her performance in The Shining. But the performances that she delivered in the Faerie Tale Theatre were awesome.

I love the portrayal of the queen here. They played a lot more into her obsession with beauty. The Disney queen was generally evil yet graceful but this queen seems more mentally ill. Like she suffers from excessive and rooted narcissistic vanity. Her constant monologues detailing her features really show more motive than her just being evil. And playing up the prince to be super lonely and desperate makes more sense that he'd be so in love with her instantly.

Vincent is sheer perfection here. Brilliant casting. These episodes were such fun, and always had quality costumes, sets, music, pacing, photography. Not huge budgets, granted, but there's creativity and care in this series.

There are few to compare against when it comes to speaking with grace and elegance so rhythmically. Mr. Price was an extraordinary storyteller.

Vincent Price's narration and his portrayal of The Magic Mirror are a real treat throughout this episode. Elizabeth McGovern is a picture perfect Snow White and Vanessa Redgrave was scary as hell as The Evil Queen.

Elizabeth McGovern was sweet as the innocent Princess Snow White, but if you look closely at her here you can see a glimpse of the steel magnolia that she brought to full bloom as the lady from Downton Abbey. And Vanessa Redgrave plays the evil, ultimately mad queen with all the force that only a Shakespeare-trained stage queen can - looking back, a performance like that is almost too good for a children's TV play, but at the time it was very effective at impressing us.

The original ending. The wicked woman uttered a curse, and she became so frightened, so frightened, that she did not know what to do. At first she did not want to go to the wedding, but she found no peace. She had to go and see the young queen. When she arrived she recognized Snow-White, and terrorized, she could only stand there without moving. Then they put a pair of iron shoes into burning coals. They were brought forth with tongs and placed before her. She was forced to step into the red-hot shoes and dance until she fell down dead.

The evil queen should have known that she couldn't hide anything from the magic mirror. It sees & knows about everything that happens in the kingdom. Also, why didn't the huntsman escape from the evil queen as soon as he gave her the boar heart?

Disney Studios named the dwarves in 1937 for their first full length animated feature. Those names most likely can't be used by any other production company due to intellectual property laws/rights.
