Is it better to use chains instead of straps or does it depend on the customer. Really enjoy your videos.

Depends on whether it’s aluminum (straps) or iron/steel (chains). But yes, it depends on the customer ultimately

What prevents the load from sliding forward or aft? Is the wood beams just to keep the front and rear of the tarp from flapping around? Do you cross the straps in an "X" to prevent them from moving or just "ll"?

+littlewingpsc27 I cross the straps in a X pattern. The beams are mainly to hold the tarp down.

I'm old school,, I use one chain over on each coil with metal edge protectors and brace it with a chain or strap in the lower front coil and one in the last end lower of coil . Ben doing it for years ,in California , but now I see a lot of lazy drivers using straps x on top California had a rule back then " no straps on coils ,skids or suicide " I've seen a truck on hwy 30 in Texas with coils fallen off the truck on a real hard break with straps on them , remember people straps stretch and when it does ,there goes the coil forward .
