I don't have a problem with putting a different actor for Buzz given the situation, but I think they should have had Tim Allen do a different character's voice. Also, they totally missed on the opportunity to give it much more 90s film influence since that's when this film was supposed to have been made.

I was thinking the same thing. I really feel like the art style drew a lot of inspiration from the Halo series. It’s very obvious in the concept artwork for the movie where the proposed helmet design is almost an exact copy of an ODST helmet from halo

Super video! Really interesting comparisons and differences highlighted. I have one more difference that wasn't mentioned- in the second movie we find out that Zurg is supposed to be Buzz's father which is a Star Wars reference. In the new movie Zurg is actually Lightyear from a different time dimension so not actually his father. Thanks, Jenette.

I never thought Buzz was a real person. I always thought he was a character in a film that Andy loved and wanted a toy Buzz because of it. It really boggled my mind that people actually thought Buzz was supposed to be a real person.

I love this film, despite the universe or time placement deviation from the Toy Story movies. I always thought the actual Buzz toys were more based on Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, which is a toned down/simplified adaptation of Lightyear, which I see is the live action Buzz Lightyear movie in the Toy Story universe
