My 9 year old daughter is wanting to play YFL this year and alot of people tell me dont let her play and just let her be a cheerleader for her brothers team, I just let them know i will support my daughters choice and cheer her on the sidelines. Aww we are so happy to hear this! Trust me I was a little hesitant but I knew it was something she was passionate about and I couldn’t stand in her way. Love this Segment where girls are meeting their role models! Being 60 now, I began riding motorcycles at 8 . I have been riding 52 yrs. And I started in motocross! (Today it’s not that uncommon). Keep encouraging them Kelly! I would have given anything to have a role model when I was that age!

My younger sister was in football for the Panthers. She actually made team captain. And she was from linebacker to quarterback and so on. She wasn't afraid to tackle and to get dirty. I almost joined football myself my gym teacher in 7th grade told me that I would be a great quarterback cause I had the stance, the voice, the throw, and tackle for it. My gym teacher talked to the football coach he said I could join and talked to my mom and dad about it. They were happy but I didn't join I wish I would've. I joined lacrosse. I had fun with it. But quit cause my asthma got bad with it

I wish I would have realized this 20 years ago. I am a forty-two-year-old straight white female. I have played football all my life like the game and was seriously considering joining my high school football team. However due to all of the negative feedback received by most of my peers at that time I decided not to do it. If I would have only realized back then what would have been possible the entire scenario would have turned out differently. I still love the game but unfortunately being in my forties now I am too old to play

Where was this kind of love when I was in school ? Being a high school graduate of 2003, back when I was between 7th grade to my Senior high year, I begged and pleaded to my former principal to at least let me try out, but they put me on a stupid Fisher-Price “basketball goal” and weak-butt rubber ball that would barely go through the thick hoop, so basically they trolled me because of the fact that I am in a wheelchair and they thought it was humorous that a “crippled” guy wanted to play basketball. I know they’d claim they “Didn’t want me to get hurt” but the truth behind that, which I’ve always known was that, they didn’t let me on the team because all they focused on was the wheelchair and assumed that I am a weakling. 😡

just like baseball during WWII, womens football is WAY more intense ... the uniforms are WAY small ... its incredible how small compared to the full body armor the Knights of NFL wear, LOL :) .... man, ... a bikini, some pads and a helmet ... In the early 60’s I wanted to play little league and I was told it was only for boys. My cousin played and I played better than him and ran faster than him and my only chose was being a Pom Pom girl. I was a runner for many years as that was the only sport I could be part of. So glad women and girls can be part of athletic teams today. My daughter loves basketball and was on a basketball team even though she is only 5 feet tall. She had the drive and was a center. Today she is a surgical pathologist and is still breaking male/female boundaries.
