"So much torque, the chassis would twist coming off the line." -Dom Torreto
@carculturenation21662 жыл бұрын
welp ive had chassis twist and thats just something some cars do . some cars just do it and its not a bad thing and some twist and they are shot. Then you have cars that are sub frame. when you get power subframe connectors and or a cage helps from twisting. big thing needed on foxes and convertible cars

Back in 98' Me and a few cousins stuffed a Chrysler 440 in a 65' Ford Falcon. The 440 was a HiPo from 1970...3 2barrel Holleys, heads, exhaust, few other goodies. Made well over 400hp and probably 600+ lb ft and in a car that only weighed a lil over 2000lbs it was the fastest thing around at the time. To make a long story short...it took us about 3 weeks of giving her hell to notice how bad the frame was bending. Did we care?...not really lol. My brother fell asleep behind the wheel and put the falcon in a ditch about a year later. We yanked the 440 out and put it back in a Barracuda. Motor ran strong for about 4 years till she blew.

As a driver, I know how crucial that 4-5 shift is when loaded. That’s why here you’ll see guys bog down towards the big end just before the hill - you have to switch to high range and if you don’t get the revs just right, you can miss the gear or break something. In a stock truck when bobtailing, you *can* start off the line in 4th, maybe 5th without stalling if you know how to sync the clutch and throttle. I would love to give this a try one day.

@@Trump_Won_AGAIN haha you wish! I’ve driven 10, 13 and 18. Would like to try a 15 though. I wonder just how Low that LO/LO/LO gear really is. Currently got a 13 in my truck. Seeing as most of the trucks in this video are shifting H pattern transmissions, it is not unreasonable to assume they are using 13 or 18 speeds, which is what I was referring to with regards to shifting to high range and bobtail off the line.

Why put the hp in the title? It's all about the torque, that's what's impressive with these diesels.

Horsepower is the love language of the drag racing crowd. It brings more exposure to a pretty niche type of racing. Good for the sport.

I have to say I enjoy the informal nature of this. You have a guy in a drag race wearing a tshirt and ball cap carrying five of his buddies in the cab with him. This is great 🤣😎👍
