Reaching out to the Locksport community to make a better lock, instead of leaving it to the engineers, results in a lock that Lockpickinglawyer would purchase to use. And it is made right here in Michigan, USA! I will be replacing my MasterGarbage padlocks with Commando products. I have been watching & waiting for LPL to review a basic padlock and be happy enough with it to stamp it with the LPL Great Seal of Approval!

Great pick and I love the spinner! Thanks for sharing.

+commandolockcompany Thanks, and nice job putting this lock together. From a pick resistance perspective, this lock distinguishes itself above it's competitors, and not just with the security pins (which are nice), but also in making people pick the lock twice!

When I’m watching video 1051, the advertisement of Commando Locks showed up before the video began. I searched “lockpickinglawyer commando” immediately to see how well the lock performs so that it dares to advertise before lockpickinglawyer videos.

Thanks to this video, I purchased this lock for my small storage space and I couldn't be happier.

I really didn't expect this lick to be very good at all. I might need to take a look again at that link I sent you. Thanks for letting me know about this video.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
No problem. I'll admit that the name is cheesy as heck. I was not expecting much, but the lock is not bad, and the company is earning a good reputation for quality and pick resistance.

Thanks, I'm getting one for my bike chain now. Saying you would use one sold me on it.

Paired with a 7mm Laclede lockdown chain, I had to file a bit off the inside of the shackle guard but so far so good. (knocks on wood)

Hi Harry, Great little padlock, so well designed and thought out. Great picking too, of course. You always make it look easy - which in most cases it's not! Regards, Brian.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
+Brian Hignett Thanks. Definitely a nice design. I particularly like the fact that you have to pick it twice (or use the plug spinner). You make a good point that the difficulty of a lock doesn't always make it across in the video. I don't have a good solution for that.

I'm glad I just got this lock for our storage unit, both sides of the locker have been tampered with several times and I was at my wits end with the amount of times they've been cut off

Awesome video as always man. I have the CLC Blackout and CLC Peacemaker. 44CZ. I really like the locks a lot. I was curious about the IC3 locks and now that I have seen such a nice demo of them I will be adding one to my list for sure (once I save up lock funds again - just blew it all on an Abus 83/80 - haha!) Take care man, and thanks!

A very impressive video. I've been looking for a not so big of a padlock to secure my bike. I think I may have found it. I"ll be using it w/ BBB Bl14 power chain w/ mini u lock. Thank you and more power to you.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. These locks are pretty impressive for their size. If the chain blocks all access to the shackle, its pretty secure from all but the most severe brute force attacks. I can't imagine a bike thief with the skills to open this guy up... at least not in a reasonable amount of time.

I just bought one from ebay.ca. I'm so impressed by it and your added info/comment regarding the built of this padlock. Again, many thanks.

can't wait to get my hands on commando security pins, have you seen them? they make American pins look like kids play. whenever that company grows and starts making IC cores & locks then the pins will be available on the market. they are straight lock porn.

I would like to know in your opinion, what is the Best Lock, and most resistant to picking; for a lock that will be used on an Outside Storage Unit?

Can anyone recommend a good latch a good latch for this lock. I have a shed I keep my bikes and various tools and things that are valuable to me. I'm trying to make it as secure as possible for my budget. This is the lock I plan on getting, but the janky old latch I'd be keeping the lock in would be no problem to saw thru. I am on a tight budget, but would love any recommendations. My current latch is kept on with torx bolts and locking nuts, and the pins for the hinges are on the inside. I think everything is fairly secure except the latch its self.

why they dont just make them removable shackle it would be easier to unlock
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
A good question for the lock maker. I suspect the answer is that the base lock is intended for use as an interchangeable shackle lock, but without the shackle guard. There's no doubt that the shackle guard creates some usability issues, but having to pick it twice makes for a particularly nasty lock.

There's a *major* problem with this & other Commando locks that isn't mentioned here: they have soft brass keyways & no anti-drill protection. These could easily be defeated with cordless drill. I emailed Patrick Smith just asking if they have these basic security features and he essentially said: "no, not at this time". So much for soliciting input from the picking community. Id stay away from this for now. Better off with an Abus for the same amt of money.
@omniryx12 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you see a shady looking individual headed for your storage shed whilst carrying a cordless drill, you'd better worry.
