Now with your new machinery, I'd really like to see this Bariach revisited by having it bored out and a formidable core dropped in.

Well designed and executed lock .... with an Achilles Heel. If it didn't rake, I guess that would have been a plus - disappointing. Thanks for showing. Regards, Brian.

+Brian Hignett Thanks. You hit the nail on the head. An excellent lock design overall... strong and simple construction with extreme resistance to many brute force attacks. But that core! I'd be a huge fan of this lock if I could drop my own rim or mortise cylinder in it.

Lovely looking lock on the outside, but as you say... Why put rubbish on the inside? Wonder if the lock itself is a mass produced Chinese lock that they use in partnership with themselves and only assume that thieved will try and cut shackle or saw through the body and not drill... again it has baffled me as it has you. Great video again Sir.

+waddac2 Thanks. No doubt this lock guards well against the most common attacks (i.e., cut the shackle), but a little balance would be nice!

Hi (again). The reason this lock is built that way is to comply with the somewhat standard (in Israel) Retek device (www.rav-bariach.co.il/lockingProduct.aspx?id=81) which many shops use. This is why the shackle is completely removed since you need to insert the shackle from the top and the body from the bottom of the device. Note that each lock has a star rating, this lock is 2 stars out of 7 or 10 I think (not sure, I can check), the lock from [79] is 1 star. Rav Bariach has some pretty good locks (some of them are known as Mul-t-lock which was a Rav Bariach brand). If you are looking for a challenge from them I suggest you try 5+ star locks.

+Boris Kozo Thanks for the information... stay tuned for a new video on this lock in the next few weeks in which this great lock body will be unveiled with a Medeco core! As for trying some of RB's harder locks, I would love to and will keep my eye out, but we don't tend to find many of these locks in the US. Is there a particular lock you would suggest? I know very little about this company. Thank you.

+Boris Kozo I just looked up Locxis on eBay… very expensive! I can can’t touch one for under $80USD shipped. I’ll have to add it to my “be on the lookout for a bargain” list. The lock looks like a normal mul-t-lock interactive, but with two interactive chambers. Is that true? If so, I’m not sure that really helps picking security (just provides better key control). I always thought the “interactive” concept was a bit odd insofar as a picker knows the bitting of the outside interactive pin (i.e., all the way up) right away. With this lock, it looks like there are two such chambers.

80$ is less than I can get here, and I live one block away from their factory :D. They claim that they have a new patent in that lock. I am not sure if the patent is for the interactive pins or the regular pins. They cannot use the Mul-T-Lock patent since they sold it to Abloy. Mul-T-Lock interactive can have 2 interactive chambers as well (at least according to the manual). I am just trying to figure out if I want to replace the Mul-T-Lock classic I currently have on the front door with that one.

What is Rav Bariach? Are they related to mul-T-lock anyhow? I didn't manage to find the info easily for some reason. They have the same logo.

They used to be the same company in israel But cause of law difficulties (sorry for ny english) They spllited each his own way And now rav bariach are making door and less locks

Hi there LPL! This lock structure is very common here in Israel, made not only by Rav-Bariach (now locksys I think?) But also others, mainly Nabob. I must say this is the first time I encounter an aluminum gut. it is usually all made out of steel, with a standard euro profile keyhole. I assume what you obtained here is a new entry series model which has suffered heavy cost reduction.

I would tirn the rim on a lathe... probably something IC to avoid getting in the chambers!! Medeco LFIC maybe!!

Perhaps... I haven't decided if I want to invest that much time into it, but its tempting.

+LockPickingLawyer did you sent the stuff we talked about earlier?? (T-handles core and tubular stuff). If so, when?

+Hugo Martel I have not sent anything yet. Sorry. Can you send me a PM reminding me what I said I would send and with your address. I remember we discussed some tubular locks, but I don't remember what else, and can't find anything in my messages. Thanks.

While I understand your concern and disappointment in the core of this lock, you must understand that in many aspects, people look for physical strength and not always the "high security" aspects of a lock. Most people will not be picking locks to burglarize or steal something.. Especially a dimple lock. They will always go for the physical attack first.
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
+Mike Galligano I agree, but I'd rather have both types of security.
