Jimmy, you are so right!! Jeffrey Daniel of Shalamar taught Michael Jackson the moonwalk (it was called the backslide back in the day on Soul Train). MJ then went on to popularise it when he performed 'Billie Jean' in the Motown 25th Anniversary Concert and did what he called the moonwalk. As an OG, this has taken me back...way back to the days of breakdance competitions in primary school. IYKYK!!

professional view was very boring, but it had great interviews. mambo Leo there was wrestling and solid gold - solid gold was a music show huko at night. the stage performances were out of the world. My parents loved to dance, so that show was not considered adult only by them. and Sunday afternoon, I think all families listened to radio- Je huu ni Ungwana?

Sadly, when the media space was liberalised most of the content VOK had were either stolen by guys who used to work for VOK/KBC and sold to the present day stations. I am told if you go your the KBC archive vaults,it's almost empty. How we would do with such content.

Was telling my kids recently how tv started at 4pm, black and white and mostly CNN. KTN took 10 years to get to Mombasa (I think) after first launch in Nrb. Watched neighbours when I visited my sis in Nrb, music was on tapes and by the time a song hit Kenya, it was no longer a hit in the US 😂😂

At first TV ilikua inaanza 5:00 p.m, the they improved and took it to 4:00 p.m. Reason I remember is that my older bro used to tell me to sit by the clock and tell him when the first number turned to 5 and the others to 00. I was in nursery school and had just learnt to count to10....
