Guys, great video. Thanks! I have a question about recovery. I am 46 years old. New blue belt. Training three times a week. Probably 20-30 minutes of live rolling three times a week. I am trying to get a good lifting workout in twice a week. Do you think this is too much for someone my age? I really want that competitive advantage but finding that there are days that I simply feel like complete garbage. Limbs feel super heavy. Just tired. Do you have any recommendations about getting really good at BJJ and being is great shape but taking aging into account?

Lifting twice a week is ideal but the tiredness you are feeling can be a combination of many elements and it's not necessarily age. Sleep and diet are big contributors and the stress of your day job as well as family life. There are many unknowns unless you are writing things down and organising your time and energy to be as healthy as you can be. If your baseline health and daily habits are not helping restore your energy then loading BJJ and weightlifting on top will be tough to sustain. Ask yourself- am I eating well enough to restore your body and are you sleeping enough 7-8 hours.

Strategy for the 100 push ups. 25 pu per min. I did 12 rest then 13 rest. Repeat. Finished with 2 seconds remaining.

Is this something that will get me in shape (in conjunction with healthy eating, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and mountain biking)? Or would I be best to stick with a traditional strength training plan if my main goal is to gain muscle as I have VERY LOW levels of muscle, get bullied a lot about my “moobs” and “muffin top/love handles.”

It will definitely help you get into a stronger more robust condition but muscle building has a big reliance on surplus protein and good sleep. We also have a video on how to build muscle for BJJ. We also have our App you should check it out.
