To help mitigate potential stability/degradation widely reported on flagship Raptor lake SKUs, I have changed a lot of my BIOS settings based on what I have watched and read. For my 13900k and 14900k I have done the following: MCE off, PL1 and PL2 limit to 225, limit P-core boost to 5.5 GHz and E-core boost to 4.3GHz, and use balanced power profile in Windows (although I do disable core parking to keep system highly responsive). Oh and just XMP on the RAM. I didn’t change LLC value. I have set voltage offset at a modest -0.015v and set the Core limit to 300 Amps. I have disabled the C6&C7 C states and EIST. Lastly I have locked AVX at 0 offset. I have tested on P95, CB R23 and CB R15. All great and in a mid 20 degree room, no workload exceeds 80c on package or cores. Very happy and benchmarks are very close to where they were before taming these beasts.

@@direct34 Since I wrote this, I changed approach. I now have set all my 13900k and 14900k rigs to become essentially a 12900k. No voltage goes above 1.31v and the benchmarks show a slight improvement over a real 12900k I guess because of an improved IPC. Not ideal but I value stability over all. I will see what AMD and Intel are doing next year before I consider next upgrade.

@a120068020 I just noticed that when idling the frequency stays high and the watts go very low say in a game menu but the cpu thinks it needs to raise voltage especially if you use aggressive load line settings. I set my max to 1.415v with a LLC of 6 or 50% on idle at low watts the voltage only creeps to about 1.404v on the core on my 12900k but at like over 580fps in overwatch it's 1.36-1.38v at like 90-100 TDP and I have all my core affinities set. I usually max out my CPU TDP at 250 watts under synthetics. That shit is stupid, play games not Cinebench. 1.4v for CPU's is like 1.075v for GPU's, we don't really know but all sure enough to just do it. I think only in my situation upping the switching frequency on the vrm actually got the voltages very tight under load with all cores synced, but it is at idle and in menus the voltage actually gets to the set limit. Which is totally fine with me at like 31c, I'm not going to complain about 1.404v spikes at these temperatures and wattage. My biggest surprise was getting the ring stable at 4700mhz with the e-cores enabled and DDR4 @ 4000oc to work. I might try 49x ring 54x p-cores, e-cores disabled but it doesn't really make sense when my primary application is VR with a shitton of background applications and UIs. Especially compiling shaders and game dev etc. Also, the Z790 TUF D4 is the most cursed motherboard bios I have ever tweaked on in my life. I can put a 14900k into it so I'm waiting till someone firesales their 14900k cause they spend too much time on reddit. Paid 240$ for my 12900k, I hope to get a 14900k for 420$ CAD that's when I'm pulling the trigger. I paid 160$ CAD for this motherboard at bestbuy and it basically does everything except anything over 4000mhz on quad channel. I'm not loosening the timings over or malding over 5fps.

It's been a few weeks now on the 13900KS and I will report that there is a noticeable FPS increase in my games. No doubt about it, less stuttering and overall a good CPU. I never tried the 6GHZ all core or anything just set my XMP and it's off to the races. I'm sure I'll try to overclock just for fun.

I do not agree with you. The ks can run at 5.6ghz out of the box with like 50w difference in favor of the original k. So that means it your fans can go slower, less noise and cooler temperatures. The lows aren’t fixable in that game, it just depends on how fast you move the mouse or run in a straight line vs how many textures are popping in at once. The Intel CPU’s just load the textures faster but you still feel the hiccup every time it loads

The problem is you can end up with a high binned 13900K. That would make the 13900KS model redundant and a complete waste of money. The only people seeing a slight difference are extreme over clocking users on benchmark testing. They have the exact same specs.

Shouldnt you mention the LLC setting when saying what volrage? For example you said 1.35v at 5.9ghz, but that will change under load depending on what LLC setting you chose.
