I think there is definitely a slight difference in the new prop folks! What do you guys think?
Shoutout to Tail Heavy Productions for giving me this idea through one of their videos! ‪@TailHeavyProductions‬

Little bit of drilling was required through the prop to get the shaft to fit through it… you also will have to cut around the spinner to where the propeller blades fit in it. I was able to use scissors and pliers to do that. Wasn’t perfect but it definitely works! Stay tuned for more guys! Thanks!

This is an awesome upgrade, we just did a video on this as well on our Turbo Timber Evo. I did some thrust and amperage tests between stock and the 13x4 prop and measured an increase in thrust of 369 grams, or 0.81 lbs more thrust. Takes the power to weight ratio from 1.4:1 up to 1.6:1 and the same amperage draw from the battery of 47A at full power with a 4S 2200 30C Spektrum Smart pack.

I like using the stock E-flight timber X prop 13 x 4 the APC prop is too heavy and causes too much torque role in my turbo timber. And you don’t have to drill out the prop and the spinner fits right on much cheaper and easy.
@KB_RC
@KB_RC Жыл бұрын
Oh not a bad idea either thanks for the idea! I’ll have to try that too! I like the APC prop because it’s a lot thicker and more durable. Not drilling it either would be nice too! Appreciated thanks!

3 bladed propeller is best for me. The sound is better than 2 blade to my ears and also less vibration with 3 blades instead of only 2.

I just came back from my maiden with the TTE with a 13x4 prop. What a great plane. I did not dare to try instant verticals like you did, though (coming from an Apprentice mini as a... well... RC plane apprentice :D) but I am amazed what the plane apparently can handle just perfectly. Do you already have repositioned the ESC as horizon suggests or is it still in its stock position right below the battery? Because I did reposition it premaiden and even with my battery almost at the back of the hatch, CG still seems to be a bit too forward as I had to trim the elevator to (I think it was) minus 48 so that the TTE is flying straight instead of going for a nosedive at 50% throttle. My only thought so far is the ESC's weight being the reason for that.
@KB_RC
@KB_RC Жыл бұрын
Hey there! So glad you like it! Ahahaha it does handle and fly amazingly! Well done on the maiden! Yes I did reposition my ESC already and have my batteries pretty all the way to the front of the tray where the foam blocks it and you can move it forward anymore. It might have been nose heavy first flight but trim definitely helped and now it flies perfectly… thanks for the comment! Any more questions, comments, concerns please let me know! Always glad to help a new fellow RC pilot!

@@KB_RC Thanks for your reply! At first, I was a bit unsure about the amount of elevator trim but now I am kinda relieved :P I'd like to take your offer for a follow up question: I had to trim the ailerons, too (but only 20 clicks (using a DX8G2)). From what I understand, there is no way to adjust the ailerons' servos without removing the wing cover stickerthingies, right? If so, I'd like to keep the soft(ware) trim instead of "opening" the wings to adjust the pushrods like I'll do for the elevator later. Do you think this would be fine or... dunno... am I losing e.g. too much authority in the trim's directions if I stick to the soft trim?
@KB_RC
@KB_RC Жыл бұрын
@@Anobis1503 Of course! I love replying to comments! So basically your saying that you may not be getting enough throw and want more? Even if you had to give it about 20 clicks of aileron trim it should be fine. As long as you getting enough travel comfortably each direction. If not you can always turn the servo travel up a bit. Not sure what exactly you meant?
@Anobis1503
@Anobis1503 Жыл бұрын
@@KB_RC Yes, I think that was my thought/fear; of not getting enough throw due to the servo's new default position because of the trimming (still learning the RC specific words, especially in English (non-native speaker here :D)) Let's say: the servo monitor of my DX8 says the new neutral position is -15 instead of zero. So I was afraid, by pushing the stick in the trimmed direction, I just have 85 left to the default -100 "max value" of the transmitter's input range. But by now I learned that by transmitter based trimming the transmitter is setting a proper offset so that I still have 100 travel in both directions since the transmitter adapts its range (keyword: offset) accordingly. Following the example: Just instead of -100 0 100 it's -115 -15 85. Conclusion: I think, there is no need for me to be worried about ^.^

U can always UP to a master airscrew 12x6 3 blade for more performance. Stock being 11x7 (fms/eflite uses that same prop on everything HH sells that uses a 3 blade on a BL10 & BL15 motor)

@@TANOMICOM It's called flying behind the power curve and it's what you can very easily do on STOL aircraft due to the high wing surface and control deflection ability.
