Beau is heading to Wyoming making his annual trip to pick up a custom order of llama pellets, or "llama cookies". We use these on all of our pack trips and our llamas love them. Seriously, you will see how much they love them.

How many llamas do you have? How long is they're gestation period?

We have found the average gestation period for our females to be 353 days. We own just over a few hundred llamas.

Why do you have to go to pinedale is that closest feed store? If pallets are on trailer couldn't you just have them delivered? Are you feeding "cookies" to help moms and babies with pregnancy cause i thought llamas could just eat grass or hay?

Andy- Great questions here. The cost of getting half of a truck load shipped to our ranch outweighs the benefit by 12%. Pinedale ends up being the best location for the trucks to reload once they drop off the feed for us and other ranches (mostly sheep, goat and cattle feed). We feed the cookies to help maintain energy, fat stores and regularity in our packers during the season and also milk production and body index scores for the females that are producing cria. What are the cookies made of.Our llama doesn’t seem to care for any treats we try!

Hey Fred- The cookies are made up from a few different things but the base is rice bran with peas, and barley with added mineral and vitamins. There is a comparable product on the market right now called Mazuri-Llama Chews. Some feed stores carry it locally and most will order it in if they can.
