Just did this a few weeks ago while doing headlight conversions, and let me tell you, if you have a significantly lifted truck but don't feel like going inside for a stepladder or installing scaffolding around your rig, this is a massive PITA! The Tundra is the only truck I've ever owned that actually needed the little adapters that normally end up in the recycling bin. I went with Trico silicone blades that were on sale, so let us hope they last longer than a year. Living in Texas, blades are often a season-based consumable that I replace in Spring and late Fall as temperature extremes reduce performance of wiper blades that much that it's necessary for a truck that lives outside.
@kccreations59454 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was a pain that's for sure! My dad lives in Texas and uses the PIAA Silicone wiper blades and has had them on for over 2.5 years and still going strong. They cost about $20 a blade but they've lasted way longer than non-silicone so maybe look into those next replacement!
@C-M-E4 жыл бұрын
@@kccreations5945 Will do! I've tried the Bosch and about every other brand except the PIAA, and they all work for a time. What seems to happen on our vehicles since they're outside cars is the heat and the cold deform them against the base of the windscreen which eventually will get them streaking like crazy right about in your sightline about midway up where there's a bow in the rake of the windscreen. I also add the rain-x concentrate to our reservoirs which for all but the heaviest downpours, you can almost drive without wipers. Love that stuff and swear by it. It saved my life once when a wiper blade failed out on the interstate. Pulled over, wiped pure concentrate on the windscreen and we got to the next down, me albeit soaking wet, but alive! From then on, I religiously change wiper blades and keep a bottle of concentrate in my emergency supplies under the seat. My apologies for all the comments by the way, I'm on a binge of your channel as I get a kick out of seeing what other Tundra owners do. Your style and personality click, and I hope you keep up your channel!
@kccreations59454 жыл бұрын
@@C-M-E Yeah I understand that aspect of them being outside! I will say that my dad keeps his truck outside all the time as well so maybe they would last for you! That's a great idea to keep the rain-x in the emergency kit. I had a buddy whose wiper failed and that saved him too, so I need to do that. No worries on the comments! I really appreciate the feedback and the positive comments it means a lot!

Thanks for the video...def helped. If anyone buys the Duralast Ceramic Blades, you have to use the second from the last example in the instructions. You'll remove the "C" adapter. It seems kind of crappy with how it goes on, but you make sure the 2 spring style pieces are depressed, then the front steel tab just gets caught on the end of the adapter. Kind of a dumb design, but seems to work. Make sure that both spring arms are engaged....I noticed one of mine didn't fully engage at first. I miss the old J hook style.

I tried a few different brand wipers and I came back to the Toyota OEM wipers. They typically last me about 2 years which isn't bad in the Texas heat. Toyota sells two different wipers for every car, they sell the OEM factory wipers that came with your car and the cheaper Toyota SIGHTLINE which are pure crap. Just picked up a set online for 48 bucks. Part Numbers: 852120C030, 852220C030

@@kccreations5945 You hooking the wiper into place on the back notches, then snapping the rest in place, was all out of frame, so it's not seen. Great instructions, but for some that very part is crucial to SEE (yes, you explained what you did which helps, but SEEING it happen, would be ideal). Mine popped off this am, -10C, ice and snow mess this morning and I simply could not get it back on. But thanks for the vid, 90% there for me.... (knowing which end of the wiper is the front vs back might be a key for me as well) Guess I might head over to Partsource and buy a new one and get THEM to install it. Cheers.
