I love the fact that Makita has picked up the idea of expanding to more outdoor/camping gear. I've included their oscillating fan, articulating lantern, and 2USB power converter as part of my kit when I camp for a week. This would complement as a main area light (tent or picnic table) and another USB charge port.

I am very happy that tool exists and I will buy it in the future. Living in Japan this will come in handy one day. Good for Makita for releasing these accessories. Ideally all of my bigger gadgets would run on 40V, just so that I have one battery system for everything. I am also considering the tiny lantern for the smaller batteries - 7V I think.

Love Makita, love camping and with all these camping gadgets, they need too come up with a solar battery charger kit and a inverter with either 4x lxt or 4x xgt I reckon with 4 batteries you'd nearly have enough juice too run a microwave, especially with an 80v setup in xgt with 4x for run time

Me too!! I have 2 x Makita 18V Lithium Car Chargers - Model number DC18SE. Wire them up with Anderson plugs instead of cigarette lighter plugs and then will charge 6aH batteries for my chainsaw, lights, radio and other tools without a problem. Just clip a decent solar blanket with MPPT into your car battery.

Hard to find the Bluetooth version of this here in the States. Acme Tools has the 18v LXT version non Bluetooth available, without the Bluetooth does not seem worth the money.

I would like to give this a go for the construction site. My makita flood light and radio take up quite abit of toolbox space. This combines two in one plus a usb. Looks like a win to me! 👍
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Жыл бұрын
Not really very good for a large site. Not bright enough, not loud enough.
@Richard-nb4iv Жыл бұрын
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL most jobsites provide some lighting. This will be used for task lighting mainly. I don't really require the radio to be too loud because they are generally not allowed on most commercial sites anyway. I just went to my local supplier and picked it up yesterday and its a pretty cool little unit (18v). 👍

Good deal. These all-in-one multi-function devices have been relegated to cheap Chinese off or no brand junk. Good to see Makita jump in the mix. If only it had a compressor built in....... haha!

Thanks for the review. I think it’s a shame tool manufacturers are still using USB A. USB C with power delivery standard would surely be the way forward now?
@nominalvelocity Жыл бұрын
For real, at this point they really aught to include an A port and a C port. What's more unbelievable to me is they'd release this lantern radio without Bluetooth in Japan-something you'd think would be a given on any appliance that deals with audio in this age.

Another banger!! Quick question has the lantern got any water proof rating (is it called ip rating?) it always rains when I go camping 😢
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Жыл бұрын
It's very open around the top for the speaker so that ruins any chance of an ip rating. I have had it in light drizzle and it was ok, but I wouldn't leave it in the rain.

Makita don't understand the Australian market when it comes to radios. Especially in rural and remote Australia. Unlike some other tool manufacturers like Hikoki, Makita does not understand that Australia needs, BT/AM/FM and DAB. Makita always leave off, either DAB or AM. Makita do not include a radio with both AM and DAB. HIKOKI do. Hikoki make a radio with BT/AM/FM and DAB. Makita don't do that. When camping or working in remote locations, AM is still king. An AM signal can be picker up long after FM fades away. DAB is a city broadcasting signal. It does not work in the country. Are you listening Mr Makita ?? It's not that hard. So I won't be buying the Makita Lanten, because I love camping and I need a radio signal that works. That will be AM.
