about the meals also, I flew with air New Zealand so i dont know if it was just there policy but when they bought the food out I just asked if i could get mine a little later because I was nursing, and they had no problem with it. Same thing as when my toddler was sleeping. Only reason why i mention this is if you dont want a vegetarian or vegan meal, you could always just ask for them to delay it

@BagsPackedFamily
@BagsPackedFamily 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Maggie, Thanks for the comment. The reason we went with Emirates airlines on that particular flight was the fact that they were the only airline that had a non-stop flight. Full price, this trip would have cost $5773 round trip which is more than some airlines out of Dubai, but the only non-stop to Chicago (DXB-ORD-DXB). Typically, we always look for convenience over price within a reasonable limit. We also consider travel partners with our credit cards.

@BagsPackedFamily
@BagsPackedFamily 4 жыл бұрын
Let's just say the kid's first years aren't on KZbin for a reason! 😇 Although baby Forest is quickly approaching the flying danger zone age 😈 Airport lounges are pretty great when traveling long haul, especially during layovers. We utilize Priority Pass through one of our premium travel credit cards. You mentioned British Airways, they are a transfer partner with Chase, so the Chase Sapphire Reserve might be worth looking into. Plus The Aspire lounge at LHR (T5) is pretty sweet if you're in and out of Heathrow.

What kind of bassinet is that? Where did you find it?
@BagsPackedFamily
@BagsPackedFamily 2 жыл бұрын
The bassinet was is provided by Emirates airlines directly. On long-haul international flights, Emirates (and some other airlines) let’s families, with a child under 2, book the bulkhead row for free. It’s that row that has the bassinet hook ups. The flight attendants will hook it up once the plane reaches altitude. Regardless of if you use the bassinet, having the bulkhead row provides a huge advantage in terms of space and maneuverability for parents. 👶✈️👍

Awesome! We’ve now flown internationally many times with our kids, and overall, it’s always been a pretty good experience. In this video, our kids are 7, 5, and almost 1. They are now 9, 7, and 2. If you’re flying Emirates airlines, you will be able to book the bassinet (bulkhead) row for free. Definitely take it! This will give you a lot more room to maneuver. Also, like in the video, make sure to order the special kids meals for your 4 and 2 year old, and one adult special order meal (vegetarian, vegan, or whatever option you want). By ordering one adult special meal, it will come out with the kids meals, and both adults won’t both be stuck with food trays if the baby needs help. Your biggest challenge will probably be your 2 year old. They’re just too young to watch 15 hours of movies 🤪 Emirates airlines provides pretty good kid amenity kits, but you want to supplement with the crayons, little toys, sticky things like tape and window gel toys, etc. We also brought comfortable kid size to headphones for our older children. One thing to remember, is that the kids will probably cry or scream at some point. It’s ok, and it will pass. Kelly and I have each had shifts dealing with a crying baby on a long haul flight. Taking the kids on “ mandatory” walking/ stretching breaks every hour or so is helpful. You might consider bringing a car seat on the plane for the 2 year old if he/she is used to the car seat- we haven’t done this because it’s “one more thing” to carry but often wish we had it for take off and landing.

At the time, he was under 24 months. On most international flights, under 2 is free as long as they are held in the lap. On Emirates, with an under 2, you can choose your your seats for free. The best seats to pick are the bulk head row which is used to snap on the airline provided bassinet.
