It turns out that I had caught her before when she weighed 12.7 lbs. She has grown another pound and a quarter. Catch and release works!

@bassfishin14 Every big bass that I catch goes into the live well for a short time. After I have her in the well I flag down the nearest boat for a picture and put them right back in the lake. I don't even take them to the ramp. Between these videos and a couple of pictures I am all set. Thanks for keeping people honest!!

Nice fish! I don't fish for bedding bass myself, but if she was released it's all good! My personal best was 13 pounds on the button. Got mine on a Zoom ultravibe speedcraw.

Up here in the north central a 7-9 lb largemouth is considered a big bass. To catch one is still like the holy grail of bass though....I think the state record for SD is 9.3 lb but still that's a big bass around here, even at that size they can sling that top water bait out in one jump its really no easy task if you don't know what your doing. This bass at 14 is a very nice bass...I can understand the panic. Nice job at keeping the line tight and outta the trolling motor.
@leeboy19612 жыл бұрын
even if he did keep the bass, who wouldn't? the people on here that say, oh your killing many big fish, thats BS. who wouldn't want to keep a 13-14 pounder, your lucky to even catch a 10 pounder in your life. good videos bill!

Everyone is telling you to release that fish. A once in a live time 24lber. God,mound it on your wall. A great memory
@billthom1411 жыл бұрын
I put them in a live well and go to the nearest fisherman for a picture before they are released. I really don't think it is unreasonable to want a picture of a 13 or 14 pound bass. 5 pounders are thrown back immediately, but don't we all want a picture of a 13 or 14 pounder?!?! It's easy to say you wouldn't want a pic until it is in your hand! These fish are my babies and I treat them well. You had a fair question and that's my answer.

nah, ipilot holds you in the same spot exactly like a power pole does, except you get a trolling motor with it that can remember 6 tracks of two miles a piece and 6 spot lock locations.

@Stuntmaner1 We have access to deeper water and more variety of structure. That said, there are plenty of times when bank fishing is just as good as boat fishing. If you can't afford a boat/truck you could go like many of us and get a kayak.
@fortysixgrand12 жыл бұрын
If you can cast to the areas the bass are staged at you can catch them just as well from shore as boat. Sometimes they will get picky and only eat a lure coming form a certain direction(especially with current), but this is more in areas boats can access only anyways. not a common rule for shore fishing. To have great shore success find areas such as reservoirs or small rivers that boats cannot access and living space for fish is limited

@billthom148 жыл бұрын
I left the tag in. When I checked my records I found out that I had caught her a year earlier when she weighed 12.75 lbs. That is alot of weight gain for 1 year. Thank God for the Rainbow trout diet!
