It’s actually simple once you have played enough horror games. For instance, I play one of the Fatal Frame games. At most I would feel eerie or just a bit of goosebumps but I don’t scream or panic and shake my mouse like Subaru does. The window jumpscare in RE Village too. It got me but I did not scream. The baby abomination in RE Village also did not get a scream out of me, just a bit of goosebumps.

Side effect of playing too many horror games I think! I LOVE horror in all forms, especially psychological horror (games like Silent Hill, Layers of Fear, Fatal Frame, etc etc) but the more you consume the harder it is to get really freaked out. You get desensitised to the atmosphere and the scares themselves and looking at it from that perspective can sometimes make these types of games, especially the more unpolished ones, a bit funny instead lol. A really good horror experience for me now 10+ in is getting disturbed or uncomfortable by the experience. Doesn't have to be gory or over the top, just... disturbing and strange. Like the feeling you have after finishing a good Junji Ito story.

@@user-fg9oy3uo3h Me too! My greatest horror experiences ever was when I was 13-14 and discovered the Silent Hill series. I didn't have a PS1 or PS2, so I couldn't play them myself, but luckily KZbin had been a thing for a couple of years by then and I binged no talk playthroughs of SH 1 through 4. Just 5-6 hours at a time experiencing nothing but the most insane mix of absolute awe and dread. I loved it so so much.

you know Fubuki is scared when you can kinda tell what she's saying throught the harmonica. also, the Wata-scream at 7:36 came straight from the heart. and the heart-felt (in many ways) song from Miko.
