Recently, I feel like worth it has shifted from comparing a smaller priced dish to an extremely expensive dish, to just showcasing 3 dishes anyone could afford. All things aside, I love this direction. Looking at all these delicious dishes, and knowing that I CAN eat it is amazing.

@@tams805 Part of the appeal of the crazy expensive dish to me was to let us regular folk know if we were missing out on anything. The show is called "Worth It" so it was kinda part of the premise to see if an ultra luxurious meal was worth it compared to cheaper options. Comparing dishes within 30 bucks of each other feels more like just reviewing 3 different restaurants. Sometimes the price delta is large enough to make sense though.

I see both sides. When I first started watching these lower priced ones I thought I'd be disappointed, but watching them I can see myself getting this food from these restaurants if I were ever there. And it makes me look for similar places closer to where I live. I love the extravagance of the old format but I like it this too. It's a nice way to change it up a little because you can't keep doing the same thing forever.
@goobygenshingamer

I think the food scene has changed a lot in a post COVID world too. Like super cheap places are very rare now it feels like, but there are a lot of mid-level restaurants with entrees in the $16-$30 range. So it makes sense there are smaller price differences between the price points.

I really like how this show has morphed to include dishes on the top end that are still accessible to a lot of people for a special occasion. $50 for a dish is still expensive to most people, but it's far more attainable or within reach to most than some dish that is hundreds or over a thousand dollars just because it's covered in gold leaf or truffles or comes with a side of ridiculously expensive champagne like when this series started.

@@-SarahElizabeth- The small islands off the coast of North Carolina are actually really interesting, because they were just isolated enough to preserve some really distinct cultures and languages. The other commenter was probably referencing the Hoi Toiders, who live on a few islands off the coast. Their dialect of English is likely closely connected to the English spoken by the island's original settlers, and many have accents that noticeably seem a little bit British, despite having lived their whole lives in the US. You should also check out another unique culture, the Gullah people from near the coast of South Carolina, who speak an English Creole language called Geechee. This community is descended from enslaved West Africans, who were taken to the islands off South Carolina's coast to farm rice. Thanks to a combination of isolation and White slaveowners struggling to adjust to the climate of these islands, these enslaved people were able to preserve their languages and customs to a degree that was almost always brutally repressed on the mainland. As a result, Gullah culture and Geechee language continue to have many strong connections to various groups from the West African coast, but blended with European and Native American influences.

My thoughts: - Does anyone else rewind and rewatch the cooking sequences to absorb how amazing the food looks? The videography/camera work of this show is gorgeous. That croaker 4:59 omg - 20:31 STEVEN xD - The crab cakes made me smile - After the 20 minute mark you can tell this show has elevated its game. ANDREW has elevated his game. I feel like I just saw the future version of him being the most classy and friendly food critic ever. - I'm so glad I saved this episode for when I needed a mid week pick-me-up. in 2017 I remember watching these episodes in my empty apartment when I just moved in. I'm still watching these shows for comfort 😌

I still love this show, though I do miss when the price points were a bit more "drastically different". It was great for cheap food recommendations and to quasi experience the decadence of a ridiculously expensive meal. But I'm also glad they're getting to explore so much more as the show has gone on.

Same! I love it this way but it was also fun to see the ridiculous end of the price scale, the stuff I’d never experience first hand 🤣

I love this show so much!! It's so wholesome, interesting, informative, tempting, and mouth-watering - and learning about restaurants supporting local sourcing and sustainability along the way makes it even better. I love food, I love these guys, and the whole aesthetic is just so calming!! I just wish the KZbin algorithm could actually get things right and notify me when there's a new episode available!

$48 is actually pretty reasonable for those crab cakes. Earlier this year the market price for blue crab was like $40/lb, and as a general rule the restaurant price is 2x the cost of the ingredients. I live near the Chesapeake bay and people were going crazy because of the cost of crabs, lol.

Opened up the app immediately after watching on my Xbox because I was so satisfied with this "year end" episode. I only recently discovered this show/channel and I've been devouring their videos non stop. The pacing of each episode is so chill and I almost feel like I'm there with them enjoying the same food they are. I just want to thank the channel for putting a smile on my face and for being such genuine individuals. May you guys continue to make more content and be blessed!
