So this is probably my new favorite worth it episode. I'd like to point out a few things that made this episode particularly awesome: -Full meals instead of single dishes: An experience that is generally much more comprehensive in a restaurant, as many places design their menus around the way different courses play with each other. I would definitely love to see more episodes with them in the future! -Tasting menus: I know they're expensive, but the best restaurants out there make some insane tasting menus with all kinds of crazy flavors, textures and presentations in every dish. Seeing the crew experience one like this was awesome! -Andrew as a host: I freaking love Andrew. He's such a chill, honest guy who is awesome at taking the lead when it comes to these interviews with the chefs. More of him, please! -The ending with the coffee: Very heart-warming and family like way to end the episode. I wish more episodes would finish like this! -And finally: The detour at The Cheesery. You guys have already done detours like this one in the past, but I felt like this time there was a bigger focus on that detour and I honestly loved it! All in all, awesome episode, please do more like this one:)

These restuarants are like a Weekly, Monthly, Yearly endeavor. El Cocinito you could eat at once a week. A go to joint. Alta Adams is a monthly treat that you splurge on with, not too often but something to really look forward too. And Spagos' is the Anniversary/Celebration place you go for that special event of the year. Some meals in your life are so good that you NEVER forget them and they change the way you experience food for the rest of your life.

I really like how creative the high end restaurant, Spago, was. It really felt like less they were just paying for expensive ingredients and more having a private showcasing of these artists' works. You can tell each dish has a lot of thought and care put into them from the taste to the presentation to how they work with the other dishes. She even found a way to make the S'moyster work. That feels like the kind of experience I'd want to have if I were to spend that much on a meal.

@recoil53
@recoil53 2 жыл бұрын
Well they also get the budget to think about stuff, play around with things, and get all the tools and ingredients to get it right. Their customers will bay too - that final meal (meal + dessert) was $235. Doesn't matter how well conceived and executed your food idea is when it's that expensive at a regular restaurant.
@battimano
@battimano 2 жыл бұрын
Really good observation. It wasn’t the classic nonsense of just “throw caviar, gold, and truffle on it and charge $1k” - caviar and truffle were even part of the dishes, but they felt so meaningfully incorporated.
@joshuadalton6063
@joshuadalton6063 2 жыл бұрын
Very much this. Going from average restraunt to higher end (but not michelin) you do pay more for the quality ingredients they use not just for the process. Then with michelin and the best of the best, you pay for the quality ingredients too, but then a lot goes into the process and presentation and experience (and profit). But Spago definitely felt like they had pushed the envelope and you are getting a lot of the journey they went through to create it!
@joshuadalton6063
@joshuadalton6063 2 жыл бұрын
@@recoil53 I wouldn't call it a regular restraunt lol but... I have had a couple dinners at higher end restraunts, and it is definitely worth the pricetag for what was basically just the same food as at a regular restraunt, but with much higher quality ingredients and the taste as a result. But I haven't yet been to michelin and had the experience aspect, but I can definitely say $235 while expensive, when you compare it to other experiences you can have for that price, IDK if you are into food its definitely worth it.

Every good series must come to an end, and there are 10 season worth of restaurants that I have to try, so I will be busy for many years trying all these places! Adam, you have a really great way of reviewing and giving your opinion on things, its very honest, informative and funny. Steven you have a great energy and probably could pretty much host or be in any type of show. Adam, your production is great and your commitment to never unnecessarily wasting time on small talk will forever be impressive. Thanks for all the years of content.

I grew up eating arroz con leche (here in brazil it’s just called “sweet rice”) and it’s one of my favorite desserts! so simple, but SO good! Like the chef from the second restaurant I also don’t like to get dessert if the meal was great, I usually end up disappointed if they don’t put the same care and thought in the dessert as the other dishes

I believe the Arroz Doce/ Sweet Rice you are referring to is slightly different to Arroz con Leche. Here in Portugal, we have arroz doce and we cook the rice in the milk also adding eggs, the rest is pretty much the same except the condensed milk. I believe you are referring to it, but could be wrong

I'm from one of the southernmost states of India, called Kerala and seeing the "Arroz Con Leche" just kinda surprised me to how similar our cuisine is to South American Cuisine! We have almost the same dessert recipe here called "Paal Payasam", the only difference might be the flavour as our dessert doesn't have citrus peel and cinnamon. We use Cardamom to enhance the flavour. Such a fascinating episode of Worth it! Keep up the good work guys ✌️

the journalistic integrity has grown so much during the series’ transition from buzzfeed to their own channel. buzzfeed portrayed the series as goofy and whimsical, but on About To Eat you see how much more appreciative of their food experiences they are, and they ask questions with substance and truly let the amazing chefs they interview shine. gone are the days where every “expensive” dish was oversaturated with wagyu, caviar, truffle, or gold; now the expensive dishes have meaning behind them and almost always have a unique story as to why they’re so great as well as how they came to be. been watching “Worth It” since it came out and I will forever owe it to this series for heightening my love of food and making me want to emulate some of the dishes I’ve seen in this series❤

Suggestion: at the end of an episode, while choosing your favorites, make the price more of a factor in your conversation.
