Another tip here: when collecting will, try not to spend too much early because once you get the man in stone NPC, the stuff he sells is super expensive, so by the time I got there I hadn’t spent any except for a weapon and an armor set, and I had about 25k and it was entirely gone with just buying 3 or 4 items from him… so if you want those items, you’ll wanna have a lot of will to spend with him.

So somthing worth mentioning; anytime you pick up a "boss" soul (blue or purple) itll fully refill your gourd. The little green ones youll see will fill 1-3 depending. THAT MEANS you can stratagize around this. Ive done near whole chapters without having to really rest because theyre so generous with them. And if you have a particular gourd soak/ sake that may refill part of your mana when you drink but are already at full health with a nearly full gourd and a fresh new blue soul to collect...... chug your mana up and get the free refill.

Nah feels like a souls games without the annoying stuff. Sekiro is a parry button simulator, this game doesn’t even have parry. At least not that I’ve gotten it might be unlockable skill later but the game isn’t built around it. Also the game has tons of gear builds I don’t even remember getting gear in Sekiro.

@@codymadison9993 The shinobi prosthetic tools (shuriken, axe, firecrackers, shield) would be the equivalent of "gear". The fact that Sekiro also has ability trees as well (though obviously smaller than Wukong), not to mention the ancient Asian setting/influence of both games. Those are just a few similarities but by no means is Wukong a souls-like; I'm pretty sure devs emphasized that.

Alas, I am recovering from Kidney stone surgery as well as having my mother stay with me for a while. She just had triple bypass heart surgery a few weeks ago and the recovery is a long slog. So all my time and money are going into making sure that she can get the care she needs for the recovery process. Its not up for the developers to decide what genre it is. Genres aren’t clearly defined rules. If it feels like a soulslike to someone then it is a soulslike at least to that person. And tons of people think it feels soulslike.

3:55 that one thing i didn't like about elden ring, they give you all these different weapon types and all kinds of builds but not only does it require a specific collectible to respec but there is a limited number of that collectible so you only get a select number of respecs in the game which kinda felt annoying especially since the game didn't allow you switch back to builds either.

The one thing I hope Dom expands on is whether you can gain all skills in one playthrough. The reason I ask is because I'm a crazy person who hates to respec. I only ever used 1 larval tear in ER because I only needed to use one. I make sure that all my stats are high enough that I can use anything at any time. It requires an insane amount of over-leveling but I'm willing to do it because, as I said, I'm crazy. Also I can't wait to hear about the new game plus situation.

This probably depends on how much you want to grind. You get exp like in Sekiro and then spend the points from leveling up in the skill trees. So is it possible? Probably if you find a good grind spot.

but respecing is free in this game... no cost at all and can be done anytime at a shrine. you may need to change up your playstyle and skills in order to beat different bosses. or you'll have to grind for a very long time to get the skills you need

Now this was a refreshing thorough intro to Wukong, the thing i didn't really hear about up to this is the difficulty. Also most CCs said it's NOT Soulslike - being brickwalled by the White Nobleman and not really feeling the fun in repeating the battle for another 4 hours just to get an even more difficult boss could mean that this really is not my kind of game.

Bosses don’t always get tougher - took me many tries to kill the nobleman but then I took out the next half a dozen bosses on first or second try.

Like you said Dom, not loosing your grind xp is a huge deal. I’m not a huge souls player, I can hold my own but I love a game that gives me more options. This game is fun as hell. I’ve done well so far, baby head took like 4 tries but other than that it’s been smooth. I just ran into a boss that sprouts little snakes lol. Going at him as we speak. Any tips for him? Lol. Super pro tip=as long as you have a focus point, your heavy attack is your "block". Start a combo and once you see the enemy start an attack hit your heavy. It "sees through your enemy" and ignores damage.

I mean a souls like is a kind of action rpg. It seems to me the only real differences being that the souls like is maybe: hard difficulty (with no way to lower difficulty via a setting), rolling/dodging/parrying mechanics, use of world resetting bonfires, losing your points upon death which then are recovered once you get to the last place you died. And the last thing seems to be non-level based game design (as in interconnected world). Honestly, soulslike isn't even really a genre, more of a subgenre like a metroidvania.

Brah you missed so many things like the fact that anything you absorb with your gourd refills your charges, uses of your gourd!!! They green ones it depends how large it is (how much "will" u get from it) that dictates how many sips, uses, charges it refills!!! The blue ones refill the whole gourd even the spirit orbs. Remember ANYTHING you absorb refills the gourd so make sure you top off before you absorb!!! N that's just one major thing dude missed!! I hate how YT'rs don't take the time to play the game and just wanna get vids out as quick as possible n get it the algorithm and all but the quality n info suffer for it!! Take the time and compile an actually good list cause all of these things aren't secrets my guy the game lit tells you your whole list. This gourd tip is no where mentioned in the game!!!

Very souls like but without lot of annoying stuff. Linear paths with alternate routes, some fodder groups in between bosses that take a while to take done. Resting at shrine respawns enemies, collect sparks/souls to level up, what isn’t souls like about it? It’s have awesome animal like beast men instead of overdone demonic grotesque creatures like every other game today. Loving this game more that Elden Ring and I’m an open world sucker. Plus this has an actual story with insane cinematics and acting with the best graphics yet instead of a story told through item descriptions. I love souls games but this is the best of the and the best of Ninja Gaiden or GoW. You can have a good challenge without spending forever on each fight and this just feels so much better even when you die over and over. Also the abilities are actually game changing and fun and not just add a stat to strength. Goty

The TYM series was not getting any views so for the effort, time and research it takes to make one video for only 20,000 views, it is not viable to keep the channel running. the majority of people unfortunately moved on from the SOTE very quickly and so I must too if people aren't going to watch them videos anymore.
