Reagrding the Yellowstone line. If you have a lot of baggage you can stay on the line cause it changes to blue line and then goes to railway station😊

As far as I know, Stara Zagora finally has a brand new railway station. Sofia bus station and especially railway station surroundings need a serious renovation. But yes, you are right. Sofia Metro is really efficient and very cheap. Do check Burgas airport as well in summer, because Jet2 also fly in summer from Bristol and there is also good transport from Burgas to STZ. Of course it will all depend on the prices, because you are in the heart of the country. There are flights with easyJet from Bristol to Sofia, but only in winter to bring Brits to the ski resorts. Just bare it mind :)

Thank you for the tips on the airlines as we didn't know there were others from Bristol. We went to Bourgas from Cardiff (even nearer to us here) the last time with Balkan Holidays, but mnogo skupo! And took the bus from STZ to the airport too. Yes the STZ railway station has been modernised and a few of the village stations have or are in the process of being modernised (I believe for the high speed service?). We will definitely be trying out some train journeys when we live there. You are right about Sofia bus station, it is pretty bad for sure.

@@NewBulgarians Sofia itself is really lagging behind even compared to the other European capitals and even smaller Bulgarian cities, Lots of going on in Plovdiv and especially Burgas for instance, There are no excuses for Sofia, as it generates 40% of the economy. Yeah, always check Jet2 as they are adding more UK airports this year and 2025. Balkan Holidays are more expensive, because they sell packages to UK tourists. If Bristol is more convenient always compare easyJet (in winter) to Sofia and Ryanair. Also Ryanair do Manchester to Plovdiv and it seems (and obviously London). Plovdiv is a small airport, but also quite close to STZ.

@@kosmicheskiprah We can't wait to return to Plovdiv again, and we did fly from Plovdiv before, which is a very 'cosy' airport, much like our Exeter airport.

Would you mind putting up a link for the bus website as my search are only bringing up overnight bus services. My mums at our place ATM and she needs to get from Razgrad to Sofia and I can only find buses that will goto Varna before going back to Sofia. Thank you x

It seems there are 2 buses from Razgrad to Sofia daily, leaving Razgrad at 4am arrive Sofia 9.15am and 8am arrive Sofia 2.40pm.
