Hello, I expected analysis as to the factors causing delay. You have explained nicely about delay in first 84 kms passing through Karnala Sanctuary, BOT then EPC, cancellation of contract, award of contract to new contractor in 2022. You could have commented on status improvement since then till this episode instead of only quoting NHAI. There was simply no mention of what caused delay in balance portion since all clearances were in place. Perhaps you can make another episode for this? Thanks.

I drove from Mumbai to guhagar off chiplun and back over last weekend and seriously except two bad stretches of about 1-2 km each between wakan to veer station, the road doesn't have what can be called potholes. Since one tunnel has started in kashedi ghat, once you reach veer station, it's butter smooth drive till chiplun. In fact I drove back to Mumbai confidently on Sunday night in 7 hours after seeing the road condition while going on Saturday.

I have used this Mumbai Goa road, especially from Panvel to Nagothane regularly from 1989 to 2019. The travelling experience of those 30 years was painful, horrible and time consuming. Now I am retired and spending life with spine ailment. Numerous people may be suffering like me.

The information given by the lady is half true !! It was delayed by the two contractors who were working from Panvel to Mahad sector. The main culprit is Ajit Pawar & his NCP . They have taken huge bribe from the two Contractors,before issuing the workorders.The Contractors gone to Court, as Ajit Pawar' s govt.did not make payment to the Contractors for whatever work they have completed. Pawar & his party leaders ensured that the road work is not completed. The Contractors went to Tribunals & the work stopped. Eventhough, the BJP came to power i 2014, it took many years to take back the complaints from Tribunal & alot the work to the new Contractors. In short,Mumbai goa road work has been delayrd by Ajit pawar & Sunil Tatkare.

One reason for the bad state of this particular highway would be the konkan monsoons. When it rains it pours, and Ganesh festival just coming at the outset of the monsoon, the concerns are aggravated. I hope the new highway is completely made out of concrete, to make it more resilient to the konkan rains

The core reason for the delay of NH66 Mumbai Goa Highway is the NCP. The majn reason why they don't want this highway to be completed is the fact that once this highway is ready less people will use the NH4 Pune Bangalore highway. Now I have been using the NH4 for 10 long years till 2021. The total amount of toll from Pune to Nipani is approx 1000/- one way, so imagine the loss. When this Mumbai Goa Highway is complete it will cut short the travel time by a half as compared to Pune Bangalore highway. Since most of the tolls on NH4 are handled by NCP, they are trying different ways and means to block the development of NH66. This is definitely a political issue which most people of Maharashtra are aware. My suggestion to the Maharashtra CM would be to create a separate express highway from Mumbai to Goa which will bypass this never-ending NH66 Mumbai Goa Highway.

Reality is very different. I drive quiet frequently from Mumbai to Goa. You can't travel from panvel to mangaon. Wastes of time n fuel n your car will need major repairs. I take the expressway, exit at khalapur and go via nizampur onto nh66 at mangaon. From there till chiplun is almost done, 90 percent. Chiplun town overpass is stuck, no work for the last 18 months. Nothing! Beyond till Sangmeshwar market is again okay with some stretches almost completely ready. Sangmeshwar to Lanja is the challenge. Not even 50 percent complete. Then from oni till banda total concrete. Rajapur overpass is only one way for 2 years. Can't fathom y they don't clear the obstruction for the other side. Dec2024, who are yo kidding. U want fresh inputs just check KZbin and you will find regular updates. Do your homework. Its not difficult

Maharashtra has fast become the most corrupt state in India with Mumbai as its hub. Take any highway leading out of Mumbai and all you find are poorly surfaced , potholed stretches where the truck traffic somehow groans its way ahead at speeds below 20 km/hr. In addition, Maharashtra has the most frequent toll booths and the highest toll charges for 5th grade roads. NH48 leading northwards towards Vadodara used to be somewhat decent until NHAI decided to "white top" the entire stretch until the Gujarat border. The result is that the heavy traffic has to take diversions into narrow, potholed service roads which have speed breakers thrown in for good measure. The situation is pathetic !

one more interesting tidbit 800 km long samruddhi mahamarg, was constructed in 3 years but it was an all and all state government initiative. on the other hand Mumbai Goa Highway is a part of national Highway initiative. Central Government and agencies are involved here. and yet there is no resolution in terms of contractor led delays.

The biggest roadblock is the land acqisition. Even small pieces of land reqired for buiding higway get embroiled in litigation Add to that the apathy of elected representatives who did not for their selfish reasons did not persue the matter. As a native of Konkan who stays in Mumbai after birth, going by road to native place is a torturous journey. Thank God, the railway has come to our rescue. We are forever indebted to Ex Ministers, Prof Madhu Dandavate, and George Fenandes.

Nitin Gadkari is most inefficient minister and roads in Maharashtra are so poor and either not repaired or expanded under various excuses. Currently Mumbai to virar suburb cars take more than 6 hours, Mumbai to nasik and Pune same. He wants to become PM but can not manage roads of one states highways. The quality of this highway is just not in par with the other highways even it is complete. The ride quality and leveling is horrendous and it will deteriorate every year. Considering the regions importance its quite baffling as other regions there are top notch highways, so its not that it cannot be built but something is stopping from happening in this stretch.

main reason of delay of 14 years is that car owners, bus and heavy commercial truck drivers will be fed up on goa highway and use alternative road as Mumbai Pune express hiways where toll is from Rs 325 to Rs 2000 for single entry. State MSRDC and NHAI is getting huge toll money daily and courrupted toll operators (most of them had political connections) There are also lots of litigations to extract more money by land owners. This leads to huge courrptions and delays and use Goa hiway as political tool for last 15 years. Even today they are not confirming the dead line of complition date. For info toll tax validity for Mumbai to Pune express hiway is extended upto year 2030 and it will be extended further upto 2040 after complition of missing link between lonawala and khopoli. Let us not say that the work is in progress for last 15-20 years, as nothing happened during Congress NCP rule of 15 years and the actual construction work started only 4- 5 years ago. Further, out of this period, 2.5 years were wasted during UBT govt. It is only a part of the stretch that is causing the bottleneck. And that needs to be settled as quickly as possible. Beyond politics, we should focus on technical issues, if any and sort them out. 2. Of course, politics apart, this highway is a text book case in mismanagement of projects!! 3. In general, compared to even so called BIMARU state like MP, Maharashtra roads are in very bad conditions. In fact, this was always so even in the 60s when Gujarat side of Maharashtra had much better roads than in Maharashtra. Perhaps, we in Maharashtra, learnt very early how to make money out of yearly repairs and kept the quality of roads poor!!! 4. Anyway, let us hope that Goa Highway is finally fully ready by Dec 2024.

This is armchair reporting. No on ground situation assessment done by the print. If one just reads the contradicting comments on the status of teh highway it becomes evident that the truth is missing. It can only ne doen if on ground reporting was done. On a different note route showing Indapur on map is not the town Indapur on this highway but another town with same name. I would expect more investigative journalism on this type of topic. Last 14 years Konkan population increased but no alternative highways not given importance by BJP. In fact UPA governments around 2/3 sea bridges work kept on hold from last around 10years by BJP - even after there completion status was around 40% done. BJP playing politics in this area- Nitin gadkari is failure minister for Konkan. He is good but become toy of Delhi government. 10days before CM visiting highway - he is bullshit minister and puppet of Delhi. Ask people how they feel while seating 12/14 hours in traffic in non-ac 3rd class buses provided by Maharashtra government - even animals treated well compare to Konkani people get punished on this road. Your study abt this highway is not up to the mark. You have to first drive through this highway than you will come to know the real problem. The is no problem abt land Activation Or any other problem particularly the eighty four km of highway. The only problem is the will of the politician's as there is no malai left. not Dec 2024, most probably 2027 or 2028 going by our Indian speed in constructing highways..we should learn from China how to build infrastructure quickly
