140cc Pit Bike Top End Rebuild Pt. 2 - Piston, Rings, & Cylinder Install on SSR 140 (YX 140)

I finally post the 2nd part of the top end rebuild on the SSR 140cc pit bike with the yx 140 engine. We install the cylinder along with the piston and new rings and show how the rings go on the piston and the correct order. We then install the cylinder and put the cam chain guide back in. We have more footage of the head being taken apart, but that's all that was recorded. Thank you hope you all enjoy!

Mines is burning oil think it's the rings or valve seals

any advice to getting rings is cylinder messed up my oil ring need a new one now got over the 2 compression rings seemed like the oil ring as well but i couldnt get it any father is the cylinder

Put the wavy separator in first then the 2 oil rings then compression rings (on the piston) then squeeze rings 1 at a time and put cylinder on

My motor locked up on me last night just did some basic maintenance and when to crack it and it lost compression and locked up I pulled the motor apart and found a nut stuck in one of the valves I’m willing to rebuild but I’m puzzled to where that nut came from

Nut from air filter is what it is. Warranty the engine if bought new within the first yeae

@@bearkreekboys I appreciate the response my brother unfortunately I’m the second owner of the bike(it’s a 2019 Tao Tao 140cc) atleast I know not to dig to far in the motor so Amma just order the head kit and start Reassembly

the nut most likely came from the adjuster on the rocker arms. usually what i like to do with these motors is every now and then tighten every bolt and use threadlocker, hope the bike came out well!!

What happened Nate this happens to me today intake tappet screw dell out and lost compression, I was scared I blown it it’s only 4 weeks old

My tappet bolt and screw came off today and fell into cylinder , is that why I don’t have compression now, bikes only 4 weeks old

That is definitely possible. Valve might be bent

@@bearkreekboys thanks mate will get new adjusting nut and screw and go from there , worst case maybe need a new piston but 4 week old probably just 10/15 hours, just can’t see it, might strip and rebuild Is it possible that’s faulty spark hood is causing problems or can’t it affect compression ? I noticed the hood had been melted a bit and I got a shock of holding it

@@bearkreekboys got it out I took head cylinder off, but it had chewed screw up a bit, wasn’t too bad tho so fingers crossed

@@bearkreekboys both valves are freely moving , I will hopefully let u know when get replacement screw and nut, may order a new piston kit just incase if not will come in handy anyway,how do I find piston size without taking bike apart

@@bearkreekboys I have a bit compression after I adjusted clutch lever , I hoping just bad combination of tight clutch and no tappet screws , there is air coming out exhaust now and doesn’t sound completely dead I think I may use thi time to replace cables, air filter etc

What would happen if you didn’t have that o ring in? I’ve just done exactly this now but the bike will only start with the choke out. I’ve tried playing around with the carb settings as I think they were messed with before I got the bike but had no success yet. I changed the piston and the complete barrel because it was smoking quite badly and was told this was the problem. Complete novice btw

U have an intake leak sucking air before the carb or u have a fuel problem such as plugged jets or not getting fuel to begin with.
