The scientific principles of strength was the most productive book that I have read. I just can't wait for this new one. Yes mike throw all the graphs and go as in depth as you can , better be 500+ pages. If one thinks it goes too in depth , they should consider that this book is aimed towards coaches and/or individuals who want every detail and bit of information. There are many books which scratch the surface. Go read those instead. I see the scientific principles as an ultimatum.

I haven't read it yet, but Chris Beardsley has an ebook on hypertrophy after he released his ebook Strength is Specific, which I have read. If his hypertrophy is anything like Strength is Specific or any of his IG posts, etc., I suspect its pretty technical and well-detailed book for advanced meatheads.

Hi guys, Regarding forearms: I'm currently making PRs in the gym, but I've been experiencing some intense pain in my forearms (brachioradialis) after doing heavy pulling exercises and curls. Is overworking forearms a common bodybuilding ailment, and should I deload despite the fact that I'm making progress? Any remedies you can suggest? Thanks for your advice!

If I really injured my knee on the last overload week, is that my max effort I should do? Or just an unfortunate event
@griffingeode5 жыл бұрын
Injury is Highly likely due to form/ technique or the combination of pre existing conditions; probably not due to volume. Wouldn't worry about that as a landmark as while recovering from injury you should lower and rebuild the amount of volume you do, most likely beyond where you were at when injured.
@ReviveStronger5 жыл бұрын
Hard to say for sure, injuries are a complex field. Tick the boxes of good form, consistency, etc. If you're then getting injured it could possibly be that it's due to volume but still so many other things could be the case as well - Pascal

@@griffingeode yeah man I had a miniscis tear and surgery last March and it tore again but went away for good time. Pain came back on 4th week of leg press
@griffingeode5 жыл бұрын
@@alexdmrgs wow, I'm not a doctor but I've had family go through a meniscus tear. That is an important "condition" (form was important too but) that can greatly influence the form you use. Good news is the person I know has been able to continue lifting happily. Bad news is they've had to be mindful of their knee and adjust their form. After years of recovery they actually have long range of motion but don't tolerate twisting and flexing some directions under high loads. It took caution and time.
@alexdmrgs5 жыл бұрын
@@griffingeode at least there's new exercises this block. But I'm going to have to really be careful on the strength block especially. I spent a whole minute with foot placement on leg press, I think when I let my knees touch my chest deeply they angled out, must've been it. Thanks for the advice man!

I always tell kids that they need to bench 4 plates before ever considering gear use. If they arent willing to put in enough time and effort to reach the level of hypertrophy and strength just to push that much weight they arent ready for it. You always wind up seeing these young 140 lb YOLO's hoping on and needing grams just to reach decent natty levels. And honestly, unless you are looking at setting some kind of record or win a meet, why take the risk? Why pin yourself and get jaundice just to get a sort of lean beach body and gym shark on the cardio girls at your shitty commerical gym?
@leewyatt18345 жыл бұрын
Benching 4 plates is something most people will never be able to achieve naturally. Assuming you mean 4 plates per side.
@grizzlymanverneteil44435 жыл бұрын
@@leewyatt1834 I think that smaller frames guys might have a hard time, but I see no issue with a 5'10+ 210 lb+ male benching 4 plates after 5 or 10 years of strength training.
@leewyatt18345 жыл бұрын
@@grizzlymanverneteil4443 I will admit that I'm not personally experienced enough to know what limits most people can reach after many consistent years of strength training but ExRx strength standards suggest that a 405lbs bench press is an elite level lift for all but the very highest weight classes.
@grizzlymanverneteil44435 жыл бұрын
They define elite as someone that simply competes at strength sports, not as an elite level athlete, and that these numbers do not reflect maximum human potential. To me, this seems almost more like a baseline for competitive people, and you should be extremely competitive before considering hoping on. Gear will not make you competitive as you will go from being a subpar natural lifter to being a subpar enhanced lifter. That said, if you compare exrx standards with from powerlifting federations standards you will see a drastic difference. Though in all fairness, I am speaking strictly from a strength athletes perspective, a 405 bench is probably not a great metric from a bodybuilding standpoint, so I see where you are coming from.
@williambrown74375 жыл бұрын
GrizzlyVerne MeinVerne I agree with your rationale but your cut off at 4 plates is way off. There is a large percent of the population that will never bench 4 plates without gear and a significant amount that won’t even reach that level with gear. The point that people should put in the time to see what is possible naturally before going on gear still stands though.
