THIS is something my local cops need to learn unfortunately.. theres been multiple high speed pursuits through our smaller town where the max speed limit is 40 and they exceed 100. And theres been multiple police involved accidents too causing personal and property damage because they couldnt just let them go and search for the vehicle later.

They can keep tracking the vehicle, especially with a helicopter and keep ground units informed of its location and direction and where it stops. But without having cops chasing directly behind them to make them drive even faster and increase the chances of an innocent person getting hurt or killed in the process. Theres better ways to follow a criminal than bumper to bumper going 100+ in town. THATS my point buddy.

The Autobahn has very few speed limitations and is one of the safest roads in existence. There are 5 times less accidents than the accident rates on the other German roads with speed limits. Police chases are also extremely rare there. I’m not a trooper but my agency does allow us to chase pretty aggressively. Even I would cancel myself from that early on though, when it gets to the point where you can’t maintain your lane and blow through red lights - you know you’re too emotionally invested in it. That’s how you get written up or you kill an innocent motorist over traffic violations. “If the juice ain’t worth the squeeze” are words to live by.

ASP has some of the best training in the USA right next to Alaska troopers. Their training is more like a military boot camp expierience and it much different than a police acadamy. That's why there policy allows them to do chases at high speeds and pit manuvers because they are the best of the best. Police here in arkansas are also well respected because they are an example of what police professionalism should be. Most of your high speed chases on this channel was actually ASP pursuits as well. Now I know I'm going down as a bootlicker here but I'm more a of the person wearing the boots as well and in my expierience, you want ASP to back you up because they are the best of the best.

I say believe because if they are being trained to blow through red lights at over 100 that’s not correct training. But I do respect when the trooper realized enough is enough hence why the trooper at the end decided to terminate the chase because we’ve seen plenty of situation where officers don’t know the limit.

Killing innocent people isn't a fair trade off to catch somebody speeding. You have to let the pride go and realize that some criminals will get away. Yes, it's not a great day, but it's better than killing a law abiding citizen in a traffic accident.

Guaranteed if he knew that he wasn't being actively chased he would have likely turned his lights back on and slowed down a bit. Since you mentioned NC, just had some other idiot here in Sampson County run from the Sheriff Patrol with a stolen firearm and some weed in the car. Lost it at 100 MPH, crashed into a ditch, got airborne. Killed himself and his friend's wife.

I'm amazed, I've chased a few, but our squad cars top out at around 120mph even when I was a motor, KZ's couldn't do over 110mph. We would have shut down that pursuit due to public safety, at those speeds a serious injury to suspect, officer or the public is a very real possibility, not worth the risk. Then again we had air units up most of the time too.

this trooper could benefit from additional pursuit driving training. his adrenaline is exceeding his patrol vehicle’s capabilities by far. too fast on curves, too fast on city streets, delayed braking, sudden jerking of the steering wheel, no clearing intersections, i could go on… i get its almost 11 PM at night and traffic is low to none, but still very unsafe. i feel like ASP also needs to reconsider their pursuit policy, as they seem to be a little too aggressive, especially on this particular night over a speeding ticket.

Unbelievable, this trooper behavior is problematic. Speed violation only, this trooper placed others in danger. Clearly, this department has a serious pursuit training issue. No discipline demonstrated by this trooper, I would suspend him for couple days without pay and direct him to attend driving training refresher course. Law enforcement officers must exercise sound judge. His vehicle is a deadly weapon, similar to his firearm. No common sense!

I get the need to enforce the laws, but think this chase was way too risky. An innocent party could have been hit or killed at any any of those intersections. The police should have a protocol for all traffic stops to get close enough to read the license plate before the stop. Then if the person runs, you can cut off the chase and follow up later. I'm surprised that is not a standard operating procedure for all departments.

Man, if someone had turned through one of those intersections at the wrong moment, like a pickup truck towing a trailer, or a mom in a minivan, it would've been curtains for all involved. Also watching the officer dive into the inner lane and then back out on the slip road before the pursuit even began... This one seems a little aggressive to me for just a speeding ticket fella. I agree. I am generally dubious of pursuit policies as they can encourage reckless driving such as driving on the wrong side of the road, turning lights off, etc but this waa downright dangerous. That speed through red lights by the officer, the lights off in a black car . All could easily have resulted in tragedy for some innocebt person. I was quite glad when he lost them.

When we went lights out, we had one switch that kills ALL lights, even brake lights. Notice that the pursuit driver could keep a visual simply by watching the brake lights. The lights-out switch works in daylight pursuits, as well. In a close in furball, brake lights should be off. (So many memories come back to me...)

I’ve been an officer for 6 years and I’ve felt with a few chases.. but my thought process on that is, when you’re going those speeds you become just as dangerous if not more so than the suspect you’re chasing. Secondly there’s red light cameras so if the situation warrants it I’m sure you could pull a plate and show up at his door. I live in a town without speed cameras, but I’m guessing that’s how that works

144 mph ain’t no simple ticket. There are a ton of other charges. Fleeing and eluding (at 144 mph that’s a felony). Plus all the other traffic violations add in some reckless driving (putting the safety of the general public at risk. A family could pull out and not see a guy doing 100+ …instant death to the family) plus someone who runs like that typically means the car may be stolen or drugs etc. won’t know since they never ran the tag but to say it’s a simple ticket is not the case here. At first (94 mph) if he would’ve stopped then yes. Speeding ticket and done buuuuut he took it to the next level. Got away this time. But he has to be lucky 100% of the time every time he does it. Cops only have to be lucky once…. Them are some odds I wouldn’t play with. Despite any of my skills all I need to do is screw up once or have an idiot pull out in front of me and it’s over.

Not saying he's right for running, but this would have lasted maybe a minute had the cop simply not chased seeing he went blackout.

This cop chasing him 100+ mph, blowing through red lights, making high speed turns in residential areas, etc., is waaaay more of a danger than some dude joy riding on the highway in the middle of the night will ever be. There is absolutely zero reason for this other than the state and its agents getting their panties twisted because some plebe had the audacity to disobey their power boner.

At that point either you give up and risk a fine or run, and some will run and past that point you'll likely land in jail thanks to worthless police system so the guy went lights out. And yes I'd blame it on the cops for creating more (or all) of the danger than there ever was

@@flyingfluke4427 he wasn’t going 150 when he got lit up, he was going 80. He didn’t go from 80-150 because he was afraid of a speeding ticket. Most likely felony warrants, but very possibly weapons, drugs, trafficking victims, etc in the car. Either way, there is little doubt that this is a person that needs to be taken off the streets

Hey, this is pretty much how I ran away from the police as well. Turn off all your lights and downshift to avoid breaking, then when there's a hill or other obstruction of vision, slam the brakes and pull off behind somthing

That's the nice thing about pursuits at night, you see the flashing blue lights approaching an intersection and react. I'd like to think he had a device on to switch the traffic lights in his favor though.

ngl i spent 5 years in mainland europe 150mph isnt shit id argue 175 and above is where youre really pushing it. and comparatively speaking most Americans are kinda wimpy yet unnecessarily agressive drivers. the only thing that makes your roads dangerous is the severelack of maintenance, piss poor civilengineering, and average driver egos/ lack of courtesy. the only reason its so dangerous is that yalls ego wont let someone pass even if you're driving a 2002 vw golf in the left passing lane that can barely struggle over 60 mph. everybody in USA has this ego and they THINK and DRIVE like they're in a v8 lambo but instead its a v4 ford taurus that cant even go over 50 without practically falling apart.

Reminds me of the early 1980's before it was a felony to "run'' but back then in Grant Co Ark, we would simply hit some old gravel road, ditch the lights, and drive like hell, and usually the Deputy would end the pursuit right then over eating dust and crashing out, PLUS they knew who we were and would just show up at your parents house with a handful of tickets, and even turn around when your dad punched ya in the side of the head for being a dumbass, so they would not witness an adult assaulting a minor

Let's be fair here. The stock SRT8 Charger is a massive joke. It's a FAT pig. Then you downgrade tires and brakes for the cruiser and add a shitload of equipment...it's horrifically bad. The Charger is the best they have (not counting special interceptor vehicles). The SUV's are even worse off since their counterparts are a hilarious joke before getting loaded down. The Charger sets an extremely low bar...

I can't lie I'm at the 2.25 minute marker not even halfway thru this video and I can't fathom having that cop blow thru a red light at 121mph damn near lost it on off ramp doing at least 90mph on 35 mph exit and swerving to avoid a wreck with car waiting on greenlight. My God can't wait to see how much more he disregards the public welfare by going that fast thru those roads man come on I have no problem with catching your guy but damn those were really close calls at high speeds.

Exactly. Officers like this, IMO, belong in mall security. Almost immediately letting his ego cloud his judgment. Fish tailing around corners, almost losing control on a ramp, BLASTING through intersections at 120mph+...all while falling further behind the suspects vehicle and endangering everyone around him.

When he switched off the lights, I knew right then that cop had no chance of catching him; pro move. Thats whys I carry an expensive pair of night vision goggles in my car when im out street racing. I go completely black, no headlights when the heat hits. Learned that in my military infantry days being a humvee driver for my unit and driving a lot with NVGs during combat training. The price for NVG in the early 2000s was astronomical, but they come down quite a lot, really affordable now.

Yes I agree that we need to weigh the risks of high speed chase vs public safety, but you’ve got to prove who was driving. You got the plate, good job, you found a stolen car, but don’t know who was driving or where the car is now.
