PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS - From the report of Corporal Cleyton McDonald, lightly edited for clarity: "On October 3, 2019, at 10:41 p.m., I advised dispatch that I was in pursuit of a black Dodge Charger on Interstate 430 northbound at Rodney Parham. The Charger had been speeding, and made a sudden lane change from lane one across to lane three. I tried to read the vehicle's license plate but, never got close enough to see it.
I continue to pursue the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 10. The operator of the Charger was driving erratically, swerving between lanes,, and had turned its headlights off.
The Charger continued to drive in that manner, running several red lights. At 10:44 p.m., I advised Pulaski County and Little Rock Police Department units in the area that I had lost sight of the vehicle at Highway 10 and Taylor Loop. No ASP vehicles were damaged in the pursuit."

The Autobahn has very few speed limitations and is one of the safest roads in existence. There are 5 times less accidents than the accident rates on the other German roads with speed limits. Police chases are also extremely rare there. One might think it was a cultural problem if the vast majority of the planet doesn't seem to have this extreme of an issue with cars that are just as fast. @wood98357

Destroyers, are they who lay snares for many, and call it the state: they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them. THIS is something my local cops need to learn unfortunately.. theres been multiple high speed pursuits through our smaller town where the max speed limit is 40 and they exceed 100. And theres been multiple police involved accidents too causing personal and property damage because they couldnt just let them go and search for the vehicle later.

@@ramong8341 so your logic is let someone shoot up a bank and once they get to speed in their car they get away with it? Who's to say they weren't in a stolen vehicle at the time? Now the cops are looking for a ghost at that point. Pursuits need to happen. There will be more crime if they criminals know they can get away with it
@ramong8341
@ramong8341 2 жыл бұрын
@@Deadly_dabber lmao, no my logic is when the public is in more danger than is necessary then a CHASE needs to be stopped. They can keep tracking the vehicle, especially with a helicopter and keep ground units informed of its location and direction and where it stops. But without having cops chasing directly behind them to make them drive even faster and increase the chances of an innocent person getting hurt or killed in the process. Theres better ways to follow a criminal than bumper to bumper going 100+ in town. THATS my point buddy.

I’m not a trooper but my agency does allow us to chase pretty aggressively. Even I would cancel myself from that early on though, when it gets to the point where you can’t maintain your lane and blow through red lights - you know you’re too emotionally invested in it. ASP has some of the best training in the USA right next to Alaska troopers. Their training is more like a military boot camp expierience and it much different than a police acadamy. That's why there policy allows them to do chases at high speeds and pit manuvers because they are the best of the best. Police here in arkansas are also well respected because they are an example of what police professionalism should be. Most of your high speed chases on this channel was actually ASP pursuits as well. Now I know I'm going down as a bootlicker here but I'm more a of the person wearing the boots as well and in my expierience, you want ASP to back you up because they are the best of the best.

I took off several times on cops, and we’d never get caught…until tragedy hit. We got lit up, license plates were visible so we’re pulling over. My cuz hightails it, hits 160mph…looks over his shoulder, instant death wobbles into a phone pole. Cut in 4s, dead instantly…witnessed it all. I was 16… never took off again…some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever done. Still scars me.

When we went lights out, we had one switch that kills ALL lights, even brake lights. Notice that the pursuit driver could keep a visual simply by watching the brake lights. The lights-out switch works in daylight pursuits, as well. In a close in furball, brake lights should be off. (So many memories come back to me...)

I’ve been an officer for 6 years and I’ve felt with a few chases.. but my thought process on that is, when you’re going those speeds you become just as dangerous if not more so than the suspect you’re chasing. Secondly there’s red light cameras so if the situation warrants it I’m sure you could pull a plate and show up at his door. I live in a town without speed cameras, but I’m guessing that’s how that works

Just to put it into perspective, NASCAR cup cars, when at full throttle, about 190, 200 mph, They’re moving at a football field a second.. 144mph doesn’t sound fast but from a civilian standpoint, 144mph in a road going car is hauling some serious ass. Edit: I wasn’t expecting so many likes. I’m kinda a nerd 🤓 when it comes to speed.

I get the need to enforce the laws, but think this chase was way too risky. An innocent party could have been hit or killed at any any of those intersections. The police should have a protocol for all traffic stops to get close enough to read the license plate before the stop. Then if the person runs, you can cut off the chase and follow up later. I'm surprised that is not a standard operating procedure for all departments.
