Here’s a tip: PPI matters more then resolution. Ppi is pixel per inch or pixel density. So the ppi depends on screen size like mobile phones don’t need to be 4k because how small and dense the pixels are so they look perfectly clear and you don’t see individual pixels :)

@kyleschulze45572 ай бұрын
another factor that wasn't mentioned is the size of the monitor. since pixel density or PPI matters quite a lot. If you want a large monitor and are fairly close (like 2 ft) to it then 100% go for 4k. if you want an averaged size monitor and are like 2-4ft away then it doesnt matter about the pixels. TLDR the difference between 4k and 2k only matters if you are able to notice the difference because of how close you are or how large the screen is.

I agree, if I had the money lol. I have both a PC and a PS5, but most of my solo/RPG games are on my PS5 so imo, I would get the 1440p monitor for my PC so I can have the higher refresh rate and FPS for my shooters, and then get like a 4K or a really nice OLED TV for my PS5. It’s the dream for me, but gotta lock in the real money paying job first.

Just picked up an Alienware 34 Inch 1440p ultrawide OLED display for $300 off + 20% cash back. Best purchase ever!

I always say that pixel density matters way more than actual resolution. If you have a larger monitor, 4K is more valuable. If you're sitting the same distance away from a smaller monitor 1440p is realistically all you're going to really need.

Gonna get OLED when the price become reasonable. I have 2k 260Hz for now.

4K. Forgot to mention size as a factor. 32” is significantly more immersive than 27”.

gonna throw this out there to the 4k simps like myself, I play on a 43" 60 hz samsung tv and HOLY is it worth it. the 120hz models are coming to be widely available on the used market for decent prices as well. just food for thought if thats what you prefer.

Trust your own eyes and ears and feelings/taste only. The best option would be if possible or if you have access to, check those two monitors side by side keeping all other hardware the same. I have recently purchased a laptop and a 4K monitor. I compared them against their OLED counterparts. I did not like the shine of the OLED screens and settled for the LCD screens instead, ending up paying more. In your case, it could just be the opposite. If you find OLED is more appealing to your taste, go for it.

Recently got a 75 inch 4k tv and I played death stranding on it and my god its beautiful. Also that game is extremely light its kinda impressive.

My metric for whether I think 4K is ready for limelight is maxed Cyberpunk settings at 4K with no DLSS at 120fps. If a GPU can do that, then I'll feel comfortable upgrading off 1440p. But for now, it's still the best resolution

As someone who owns that monitor Thats a g8 neo, 4k 240hz monitor. Best monitor ive ever used. Next to my asus tuf 1440 the image looks unreal

I am afraid to go to OLED due to burn-in. I have used my current 144hz 1080p TN monitor for 10 years and i have just ordered a 32" 1440p 180hz IPS monitor. OLED does look incredible, but i want to make sure that the quality provides longevity.

I have that same Samsung monitor with a 4090 and get all 240hz out of that monitor. It just boils down to preference. I like 4k

Number of pixels is 1.78 times of fhd in qhd and 4 times of fhd in 4k - so the resolution gap is larger between qhd and 4k than fhd and qhd

I have an OLED TV hooked up for 4k gaming, and an OLED monitor hooked up for 1440p gaming. Competitive is monitor, cinematic is 4k

I have a dual1440p IPS setup and love it playing max settings maxing out the 165hz on my 4080. I'm planning on upgrading to OLED 1440p higher refresh when my monitors wear out

Also (if the Hz are the same) the GPU has to push less pixels, so can dedicate more towards consistancy

4k looks so much better than 1440p to me. If you have a 27 inch or larger display, it's super easy to see the massive image quality difference when you're sitting 2 feet away. That being said, you can get a 32 inch 4K/144hz (or higher)/HDR/G-Sync monitor for $500, sometimes less. I would much prefer an OLED panel, but I when I can save money & still get all the above, I'll take the 4k/144hz monitor.

I've been happily gaming at 1080p the last -7 years with the original Ryzen 7 1700X and 1080 Ti. Upgrading shortly to a Ryzen 3950X and 2080 Ti to dip my toes in RT.

Frame rate over resolution any day of the week, even for single-player games. Gimme that beautiful 1080p or 1440p at 120 to 144hz and I am GOLDEN.

I just went from 1440p 180 hz IPS to the Alienware AW3423DWF, an ultrawide 1440p 34 inch OLED monitor, 165hz. Even if 4K is good, I think this is just goated of visuals. You can debate if ultrawide is worth for you but OLED it's just superior. Eventually I will buy a 4k oled monitor too, with some luck someone will release a 4K ultrawide monitor, I'm hoping.

Go for LG C3 or C4 42" oled 120hz 4k, which will cost around 600usd on sale or if you're lucky can get open box ones for even less
