147 days off benzodiazepines

I know this is beyond hard. It feels like it will never end but it will. The awful symptoms we get from stopping a benzo (s) are indescribable at times and I think well I know that our family and friends think we're nuts. Trying to describe how we feel is so hard. I am almost 20.5 months off of 2 benzos (Klonopin & Xanax) that I took for 6.5 years. The last year I was taking up to 6 mg's a day. I was getting inter dose and tolerance wd's but I just thought my anxiety and panic attacks were getting worse. I was told my 'then' physician about it when that started and that's when he added Xanax along with the Klonopin. His exact words were take the Xanax for breakthrough anxiety along with the Klonopin. Breakthrough anxiety??? What did I know? Unfortunately I trusted him. Well I finally realized that taking and needing these 2 drugs was not good. I quit cold turkey. Bad idea bc I ended up having 4 grand mal seizures within about 8 hours of my last dose. I ended up putting myself in the hospital bc I was afraid of dying and I could have died. I was put on anti seizure medication for the 5 days that I was in the hospital and I went home with a month supply to avoid seizures. What a nightmare! I not only had seizures but I was hallucinating and was a wreck. I started feeling many improvements around the 9th month of stopping the benzos maybe about 50% better. Today I am 20.5 months off and although I can't and won't say that I'm 100% healed. I can say I feel like I am 90% healed. My advice is be strong, patient and accept that this will take time. We're all different and heal differently. You will get better and this nightmare you probably won't ever forget but you can put it behind you. You will be okay it just takes time.

Problem is Benzodiazepines do not cure us...so when we get taken off we still have anxiety disorder. People wonder why we aren't better!

did you taper? for how long?

@@benzoaftermath6831 no taper my doctor said I could just stop. Wrong I had to go in detox center to get off I didn't know anything about taper until KZbin!
