Great video . Lots of being careful and logical unlike many videos on YT considering single 4 stroke engines . I typically tape over the valve seats with gorilla tape giving me some added safety . I'm old and shaky but I'm🤣 still getting it done .

Nice job Willy! And nice swivel table! I used to port my 2stroke motorcycle cylinders and did my Big Block chevy 396ci heads, big time consuming job. Your motor should run really good and strong! You can never be too meticulous in engine building.👍🇺🇸

I bet you can modify the lifters themselves. They're not air tight or anything, just an extension of the pushrod.
@DIYWilly Жыл бұрын
I did open the lifter bores up slightly in the block to relief stress. Anyway that’s an idea. Works good for Briggs engines. It’s possible also to use 160 lifter that are smaller in length and weigh less. Just match the push rods and you good.
@fatbuddycat Жыл бұрын
@DIYWilly yup those 160 lifters are great with the correct Pushrods.

the shims may be so you do not have the spring sitting on the aluminum head and itching away the aluminum while the engine runs
@DIYWilly3 ай бұрын
That’s definitely something to think about. I could see overtime the spring seats getting damaged with use.

Did you calculate the compression ratio with this combination?What fuel did you run in it?Thanks.
@DIYWilly5 ай бұрын
Hello Travis, No I did not calculate the compression ratio with this build. This combination has been done many times over by other engine builders. The piston is at deck height and with the .010 head gasket and smaller combustion chamber the engine is a strong runner. I have a .032 copper head gasket that I was told to try but honestly I haven’t had any problems with the .010 gasket. I use ethanol free 94 octane fuel in my engines and will soon be using 110. Thanks for watching!!

Just a heads up Willy, stock lifters can handle way more horse power than what you are gonna be making. I've never seen anyone break the stock ones as long as a good quality oil was used and you properly clearance and build your engine. Which you are doing lol
@DIYWilly Жыл бұрын
Yes the stock ones will be fine for this engine. Thanks for watching!!!

When would u want to use billet lifters? What rpm or horsepower?
@DIYWilly10 ай бұрын
Hello, I wanted the Billet lifters due to the 308 cam I chose. Unfortunately they needed additional machining to the block to work properly and I didn’t have the time. So I used the stock lifters. Thanks for watching!!
@Nouri_TV9 ай бұрын
did you end up keeping the 5.260 push rods in this build with the 308 or go to 5.200 length?
@DIYWilly9 ай бұрын
Hello Nouri, The combination I ended up with that worked perfectly was the 308 cam, 32lb springs and 5.200 push rods. The engine runs amazing. Great question I had to look up the final build spec on the engine. I couldn’t remember. Thanks for watching!!
@maxagathos8 ай бұрын
also and lb over 28 singles don’t have much travel so i’d get dual 32s instead 26s arrent enough for the 308

Crazy good! So good I’m taking it off and will probably not run it again. Well for a while anyway. That bike got away from me and I crashed. It caused quite a bit of damage to a neighbor’s property and injury to me. In the engines defense I had the wrong gear on the back wheel and it was a wheelie machine. That bike tried to fly like a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. I’ll be going back to my more rideable engines on the small MM80 frame. Thanks again for watching!!

That’s incorrect the more efficient your engine is the more tourqe you will make. There is nothing efficient at your top horse power rev. There is a big difference between efficiency and the max amount of fire these hot air pumps can move. It takes more fuel being burnt to allow more air though the engine. An engine that is noticeably more efficient will leave your ass out of the corner.

Waste of time, I’m sorry not to be rude or anything. If you’re going to port a head at least do it right. Change out the stock vavle guide, for some bronze ones. Then shave it all the way down even the guide part so all that flow goes throw the middle and not the side!
