I think the Black Buck op in 1982, is still the longest ever bombing mission, where all aircraft operated from the same base. e.g. longest bombing op away from a friendly base. As you showed, the Americans flew air to air refuellers from multiple bases along the route.

I saw a video the other day about a f22 flying by a bomber. The f22 put on an impressive display of maneuvering and pulled up beside the bomber. And said what do you think of that? The bomber pilot said watch this. The plane continued to fly a straight level course for several minutes. The f22 said ok what was that? The bomber replied I got up. Stretched my legs. Made a sandwich and a cup of coffee and took a piss.

I honestly thought the GR Solution to the problem, would be to swap out pilots.. Each member of the Grim Reaper's crew could take 2-4 hour shifts in manning the aircraft in DCS, logging in as they are able to from each time zone..

This reminds me of an LHX attack chopper mission where you had to kill an SA-something SAM because a B-2 prototype was making a demo flight in the area and its stealth/ecm wasn't fully operational yet :) So I imagine a guy in a futuristic chopper flying your flight path in the target area ahead of you taking out threats so you can show off :)

I guess it would have been preferable to modify the aerofoil to justify the increase in lift physics but doubling the length of the SR-72 is a nice modification. In MSFS flying the dark star is tricky because the basic airframe does not have enough lift, especially near the tail to smoothly land.

@@grimreapers can confirm: mission is 1:47 mins to on station time, dark star is extremely easy to lean off course. At one point I was 980 miles north of trajectory. Wish I could simulate JDAM delivery but just came out of hyper cruise and reduced to 400kts to simulate. 4 refuels en route. 🤘🏻
