W Craig dying in the last movie, think that Brocoli/Wilson should think outside the box here. Taking cues from Craig's tun as bond...orphans always make the best recruits. Not trying to find someone to play Bond, but someone (male, as Fleming wrote the character as a man and Brocoli/Wilson swore would always be cast as a man). Find someone to take up the 007 position. Stop trying to redo the franchise...accept what was and carry forth..bring new traits to 007.

@@danieltaylor1494 I believe that British actor Tom Ellis would've made a great Bond, as he has all of the right qualities for that iconic role, but since he is now in his mid forties (and Eon want to sign an actor to a multi-picture contract) he is already a bit too long in the tooth for it. They SHOULD have chosen him for 'Casino Royale' instead of Craig, but it's obviously too late now. It's a shame that Ellis never got the chance to have a crack at it, as I think he would've done a great job, but there you go.

He had the style and, more importantly, the ruthlessness. The "unknown reason" why he refused a promiscuous character was the same as for Neal McDonough: devout Catholicism and a strong sense of monogamy to his wife. Even acting intimate with another woman was/is unacceptable for both, so they ended up in primarily villainous roles. McGoohan's only on-screen kiss was on "Secret Agent/ Danger Man", and the actress who was the recipient was his real-life wife.

Although all the Bond actors have been pretty great, what do you all think about AI potentially taking over for actors? For instance, imagine AI bringing the next Bond to life in the likeness of any actor. I experimented with this idea and created a concept trailer for a new Bond movie starring an AI-generated Daniel Craig. Based on the results, it feels like we’re getting close to making a full movie with AI! Curious to hear your thoughts.
@sprocketsintime2 ай бұрын
This is a great post and question, as I have felt for more than 20 years that, eventually, AI would become so good that eventually they would have it so that any actor from any era of time would be available for your future film. Example: Say you want John Wayne in your next western...his estate would offer, you want John Wayne young, middle age, etc...and they would have put every image, word spoken, into a digital data base and like how things are today, put your script in and you're on your way....this way the family still benefits and you can have John Wayne in your movie...obviously provided you stay in the confines of the guidelines set by his estate. Interesting for something like film restoration but I think it might be like Peter Cushing being put back into Star Wars...all you can focus on is the fact you know he's dead and it's digital...so is it really worth it? Just an opinion by me nothing more.
@lfd_eng92195 ай бұрын
Connery was the first and probably the best...at least in the first films (Dr. No through Thunderball)...but then you could sense his boredom with the character. Daniel Craig provided an edge that I truly appreciated and was great in Casino Royale through Skyfall...and I place him a close second (Spectre had some good moments...but No Time To Die failed). Roger Moore was my introduction...and while I loved the campiness of his tenure, it fell flat on the last two films...For Your Eyes Only and Live And Let Die were his best...he places third. I prefer Dalton's Bond in License to Kill slightly over Brosnan's Bond in Goldeneye (the best films for these two)...Dalton was a bit over acted, but didn't rely on gadgets as much, more of a spy...but the scripts were the scripts. And Lazenby was so wooden...I hate that he ruined the film featuring the best Bond Girl...Dame Diana Rigg. Eva Green is 1B...Diana 1A. Glad no Americans have played Bond, and they shouldn't...but I guess we agree that a Scottish Lad was the best. Next up? Maybe Harry Potter? Or how about one of the Dr. Who portrayers? Well done Sprockets!

I enjoyed all six actors who were officially cast as Bond, but I would have dearly loved to see Patrick McGoohan in the role. He would have been brilliant, perhaps even the best. I do, however, understand his reasoning for turning down the part. He was a dedicated husband and a devout Catholic. As a married actor myself, I would not want to play a role where I would be called upon to have to kiss a woman who is not my wife, let alone bed multiple women. I can play a killer in a film or TV series because I'm not really killing anyone on set. However, if I kiss a woman on set, I'm really kissing someone who isn't my wife. That's not something I am comfortable doing. Apart from that aspect, McGoohan would have been so good in the role.

Wonder why the producers even considered Americans in the role of a British character. Next would be doing a feature on actors who applied for the role of Bond but was turned down. jack Lord was one such actor. He was turned down because he demanded a percentage of the profits, an unheard demand back then. Of all the actors presented in this video, I vote Patrick Mcgoohan and Rod Taylor as the most likely candidates. Never heard of Clint Eastwood being made the offer. As he rightly pointed out, the role should go to someone British, something the producers somehow felt less concerned about. When doing the first Bond, "Dr. No", they approached Roger Moore as Bond. He could not assume the role because he was already committed to doing the now iconic "The Saint" series.

It Eastwood or Renolds would have attempted and Enlish accent, it would have been the death of the franchise! 😂 Cary Grant may have been able. But, to make an American an MI6 agent probably wouldn't have worked with fans. JMO. Edit: And those American actors thought the same.

Cary Grant would have NAILED IT!!! Richard Burton wouldn't have been bad, either!! By the By Cary doesn't have an "E" in his name. I'm flattered, though..

By far the best Actor was Sean Connery for the Bond 007 character.

Roger Moore was a great Bond, but in his autobiography, he called Sean the best 'James Bond'.

Best: Connery Roger Moore.. a terrific and iconic Simon Templar....but not as Bond. Would have been great to have a high production standard Saint movie with Moore. Best Person who Said No: Patrick McGoohan He had the charm, personality, and physicality. I'm sorry they never did a full blown, high budget John Drake movie. (...and no, "Koroshi" doesn't count)

Would have loved to see a John Drake film with McGoohan! Did you like Val Kilmer in The Saint?

@@sprocketsintime It was certainly different in attitude than the original George Sanders Saint movies , or the Roger Moore tv series. Imo, Moore was the perfect charmer for Simon Templar...and his Bond was definitely similar to Templar. I think there was a reason there was never a Saint II with Kilmer. Have not yet seen the 2017 Saint, which had Moore and his tv successor Ian Olgivy in the movie.
