This is my idea of a perfect hearty soup. And I so agree that a good ham bone contributes so much to it! I’ve never used the 15 beans before, so I’d love to try this for sure! Wish I had a bowl right now!

Hi, Parnell👋 I love a good ham and bean soup. I have seen those beans before but never tried them. I use a mix that looks similar to those that I got at Costco. It was a huge amount and has lasted me years😄 This looks delicious and hearty, and I can imagine that this would be really filling! Perfect cold weather soup and lots of leftovers too!

Hi Parnell, I’m a soup,person and could eat it everyday. This soup looks truly delicious and can’t wait to make it. I have a ham steak in the freezer and will look in grocery store for the 15 beans. Definitely will make it by next week and let you know how much I enjoy it. You’re spoiling us with your wonderful recipes each week. But I’m sure none of us mind at all. Btw, Saturday I’ll be making the beef shank pot roast…family wants mashed potatoes. I prefer rice but majority rules, lol! And guess what’s for dessert. Since there is only going to be four of us, one chocolate PB, as we call it, will be enough. Maybe your apple cobbler… Thanks a million….as always Have a fantastic blessed and enjoyable week.. See you Monday.😊😊

Hi, Kathy! I am sure the ham steak would be perfect for this 15 bean soup. I prefer rice as well--great minds think alike, haha! But I'm sure the beef shank roast will be great with mashed potatoes, too. Chocolate PB cake? That's a good one! In terms of apple cobbler, both the dump cake and pie crust versions are good, but I definitely prefer the old fashioned pie crust one. Let me know how everything turns out!🥘🍖🥔🧅🧄🍲

I'm glad you like my soups! Unfortunately, no I don't, but I do have a vegetable beef--not sure if you've seen that one. If not, here's the recipe video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJPHamtvpJefaNU

I'm not sure I could name 15 beings unless I say light red dark red and kept adding colors. The hambone always lend so much flavor to a soup so I'm sure it's delicious

What if I don’t have left over ham bone? Can you make a video of how to do it from scratch from a non left over bone? Or is the flavor better with a left over bone??
@ParnellTheChef Жыл бұрын
Hi! Although a leftover ham bone is very unique, the closest substitute would be using a ham hock. In some of my other soup videos, I use a ham hock to make a stock, so that's what I would do there. First, I would boil a 1/2-1 pound ham hock in water and vegetable stock for 2 hours to infuse the water with flavor and soften the meat. Then, I would add the beans and proceed with the recipe normally. After another hour, I would remove the ham hock, take off the meat, and add it back to the pot. Then, I would add a cut up ham steak at the point where I added leftover ham. With a ham hock and a cut up ham steak, you can definitely make this 15 bean soup. I hope that answers your question! 👍😀

I've found that the meat loses all of its flavor by the time it has finished boiling. I tend to boil the bone portion but reserve the meat until the end.

I think you're doing a nice job with the beans but I've got to tell you something I want you to understand now my mother come from the south and she cooked beans now to my understanding the reason for soaking the beans overnight or a couple nights is number one softening them that is right and the guessing them that's right degassing them if you do not soak beans when you begin to cook them the gas in those beans can cause flashes you would be pooping all night long till the next day so that's the reason why you want to soak the beans rinse them off properly to make sure there's no rocks or bugs or skin on them okay this is the reason why you do those methods and putting fresh water on them I hope you get this message and maybe others will agree with me but if you eat beans without properly soaking them and eat them you will be gassy I'm not going to lie you just going to have gas it going to be pooping all night long now maybe you don't care about pooping maybe you live about yourself but when you live with others and you're trying to impress your man or your woman the last thing you need to do sir is fart that comes later on in the marriage and depending on how many times you fart you might end up getting divorced from that so I hope you read this message and understand the process of soaking the bees and cleaning them properly especially soaking the beans to remove gas Oh ps also if you do not remove the gas from the beans it can cause swelling bloating and be very painful
