I think it comes down to finding the right style for your face shape and for the general texture and density of your beard. Most people tends to forget that a beard is seen as a whole and usually from the front by other chaps. Personally, having a strong moustache and front and not so dense cheeks and sideburns, I went for a Nicholas II / George V style. By doing so, the weaker aspects of my beard appear as intentional (let's call that a "faux fade" : )

My weak areas tend to be under my bottom lip, on both sides. Granted, it's a small area but I know it's there. And also that area where mustache ends and cheek line begins. I found a workaround to that by combing the stache back towards my cheeks to give the perception of more density. And like you Greg, from the side, my cheeks aren't that dense. And last but not least, I have an 'ok' mustache, but nowhere near yours, Eric's, Carlos's, or Jeff's. My best coverage tends to be the chin area.

@patriarchmike3 жыл бұрын
I have a beard that is patterned like the one Keanu Reeves has except mine is less patchy and bald. I have high and sharp cheek line and a strong neck line with medium thickness and medium density hair, but I have disconnect between my mustach and my goatee and also between my sideburns and my mustache and goatee. Its like it grows in all white trashy like Joe Dirt. Forever I would just rock a three piece where I shave the corners and the areas that were weak and disconnected. I first found out that when I grow out the mustache it eventually covers over the area of disconnect between the chin and mouth. And now when I grow my sideburns about 2 inches it covers over the bald areas when I comb it forward. My neck hairs frow upward and the opposite direction to the face hairs. This us apparently called the double beard. The neck hairs are brushed upward from the neck to the chin to create a base that pushes all the downward growing facial hairs outward to create that box look. I always thought that I could never grow a beard, but now I see how those thin areas make the beard look better because the area of disconnect between the chin hairs and the jaw hairs provide a valley or a niche for a long thick mustache like mine to lay into nicely. Its all by design. So no matter what kind of beard you have, you will find out in the end that some hairs grow faster on one side than the other, and in different directions, or not all all, for a reason. Let our creator do the work. Its a test of patience to get through the awkward phase which makes the effort that much more appealing. Less people grow beards than do, so having a long beard tells people 1) that you don't care what they think 2) that you do what you want and 3) that you stay committed to things. That says a lot about you before anyone even gets a chance to talk to you. It commands attention and respect. Its your beard and you can rock it no matter who hates on it. Most beard haters are people who can't grow one out themselves either because they don't have a beard or because they are afraid of judgement. So forget them.

Should I avoid using it in the areas that I’m growing facial hair though? Should I replace the moisturizer for beard oil after a shower? 2) I love the way your hair is styled in this video, it’s pretty similar to the style I rocked for years, but my barbershop got shut down during the pandemic and I haven’t been able to find a barber that can get me the cut that I’m looking for. Personally ( as I've begun doing it again, but I always leave a triangle under my lip ), it shows more of my face, gives my beard a more intriguing shape, and makes me look less menacing than I do with the beard up to the lower lip 🤣🤷♂️ Each his own, and the ladies seem to like it. Cheers and God Bless, brother.

Never understood why sparseness under the lip was a problem to me it looks better than fullness under the lip. On the cheeks absolutely ... under the lip? Nope.
