Momoa, RDJ, etc, can "get away with" doing these things with their facial because of who they are, and because of characters they've played. Give the average guy a semi-unique, professionally styled look and the Hollywood budget to support it looking the best it possibly can, and I think you'll find that every guy can have a look that suits them. Put them in a film role with that look, and it becomes "iconic".

3 big separate factors: 1) quality of cut. 2) does it actually look handsome 3) is the person trying to look handsome or are they trying to work an image? For example take Posty. Low quality, low handsome,but it accomplishes exactly what he wants and therefor it’s good. Take RDJ. His is high quality, not handsome, and accomplished the look. Therefor it is good despite not being handsome.

If you'd asked me if have to tell you I can't rate these beards attached to these actors. Some of those guys are legends, but I think they have a stylist perfectly cut and trim their facial hair to groom that look. I think maybe there's something to that, but you have to know your value. I think the beard and moustache look gives a vibe of maturity. It takes time and effort to grow and maintain a nice one which might indicate a person who cares about their appearance. That being said I've never had a beard and likely never will grow one. (But who knows, we evolve and change and taste with that)
