This is EXACTLY what gets people in trouble when it comes to owning dogs with HIGH PREY DRIVE and GAMINESS, you don't train this out of any dog breeds. It is exactly why we have the pit epidemic, and why so many people and innocent animals are maimed, mauled and killed each year. Training will never remove these genes, and owning these beasts are a liability, but most people these days get their information from thedodo.com which will say exactly what you do, and all it is is BS. If pits/bully breeds are so great, and technically are only 6% of the dog population how come there are so many of them filling our shelters? many with aggression issues? With the amount of doodles exceeding the amount of pits, how come they don't fill the shelters? ... Why is it the dogs with HIGH PREY DRIVE and GAMINESS do? ANSWER: because you don't breed this or train it out of the animals it is just "there" ... it's ok though as a supporter of the breed, you live constantly in these lies and will never change unfortunately, until it is too late, and even then you will blame the victim of the attack or find some "reason" the dog attacked in the first place. We have breeds for a reason, and they need to be recognized, they are not all the same, and no how dogs operate has much more than HoW ThEy'Re RaiseD.

after working 20 years in dog rescue i learned that all breeds of dogs have the potential, if treated improperly, to become vicious or out of control. I wish people would do more research on the breed they are going to adopt or purchase. It should be mandatory for ALL dog owners to attend a basic obedience and dog behavior class. And please dont use those retractible leashes. They are ineffective and dangerous.
@beamills92053 жыл бұрын
GOOD ADVISE ON THE LEASH....
@valkyriesardo2783 жыл бұрын
Ditto on the retractable, especially when the dog's weight exceeds the specified limit. A man in my neighborhood was walking his large dog on a retractable while I was walking three puppies. All of us were converging on the same corner but had little warning because tall shrubbery blocked the view. His dog rocketed toward me and mine and that retractable leash did nothing to hold him back. My three were cart dog mix so in their panic they were able to yank me off my feet and drag me across the ground until I slammed into a tree. Happily, I was the only one that got bruised. But I would say that any dog, even if well trained and never abused can be provoked. So my gripe are the people who walk their dog with no leash at all expecting their dog to behave the same way in public as their dog behaves at home.

I agree I put Sabbath my doberman in a training for verbal and hand signals in walking placing, sitting and overall retrieving. He would carefully bring me the cordless phone and he was never trained to attack. I however had him trained with guard. mostly, sit, stay and watch over. Usually if a friends baby was at my place he would lay at the bought right of infant swing or crib. no one feared him. but choke chains and or retractible leashes is not only a silly thought but sadly a bad thought.

@menya000453 жыл бұрын
@Christy L. Absolutely!!! but they lack some qualities to be good for protection dogs. That is why they are rarely used in the military and police. In a "pit", people should be able to go into fights and separate the dogs without any problems. If a pitbull show aggression, people will remove it in breeding programs. This is why pitbulls are often small cuddly pigs who love people.

Aside from environment and upbringing, which has been mentioned in many comments here, "FEAR" is generally one of the major factors that cause dogs to attack people in the first place. Fearful and nervous behaviour around them, and towards them, will instinctively cause mistrust and, if nothing is done to counter that, it can very easily escalate to a point where the dog will view such behaviour as a threat. In other words, just being calm and friendly towards, and around, dogs, helps A LOT. There are obviously the more aggressive and skittish breeds, but at the end of the day its not so different from people, and our reaction/interaction, and the environments/relationships we create, with each other.

And lets not forget it's been proven that newborns produce a scent that triggers dogs to attack. She was flock-protective and aggressive at times, always toward other animals and never people. She was great with kids. When I rescued her she looked like a polar bear, and I had never seen a dog that looked that awesome. She was truly a gift and a great companion. As a young dog, 3 multi-mile hikes a day did not tire her out. The Kangle, Great Pyrenees, and Hungarian Kuvasz are all closely related to the CS and TM. My daughter and her husband got 2 American Stafordshire Terriers (Pit Bulls) from the same litter, a male and a female. Molly and Roscoe were the most lovable, devoted and loyal dogs you could ever imagine. They grew up with my grandchildren. As another baby came along, they expanded their love. Roscoe lived to be 9 YO and Molly to 11YO. The family was devastated with each loss. It's hard to replace the dog that you grew up with but more ASTs came along and as the grandchildren grew and left home and started their own families, more ASTs were added. They are called "nanny dogs" in England for good reason. Add them to your family, love them, train them and they will be yours for life.

Any dog (or even a small house cat), can be very dangerous , when they get in "fight mode". And a 25-50+ KG mad dog, or in attack/hostile mode, is nothing you want to be near to, even if it is your own damn dog. Just go try to separate , cats or dogs in a fight , you'll find out, your "pet" is not always your "pet".

We picked up a rescue Fila who was, not old, but fully grown when we got her. She was the most laid back, lazy and loving dog Ive still ever seen to this day. She was an outdoor dog with full run of the property, but you could litterally grill burgers with the door open on a summer day and she had the natural discipline to sit lazily at the door and not even seem to beg. I was a young teen when we got her and I could put my hat and sunglasses on her and shed wear em like a natural lol. Never even bothered her if I laid back on the ground and had my head on her side like she was a pillow. We had a hyperactive german shepard that if he got to running and jumping around people too much, our fila would calmly roll him over with her front leg/shoulder and lazily pin him down to the ground and casually sit on him til he decided the romp around was done. Shed wait with us at the end of the driveway til the bus got us for school, and sometimes would run after the bus with her floppy ears like she couldnt let us go. Hands down best family dog weve ever had to this day. Never had a sweeter, lazier, more loyal dog that we never had as a pup. Youdve thought we had day 1 bonds with that girl. She sure could eat too. Shed go thru a coffee can of food in a minute or 2, then scoop her big tin food bowl up in her mouth by one side and run it across the yard to the kitchen door and flop it down with à bang right at the doorway.

I remember seeing the Kangal all over Iraq during my deployments. I never knew what type of dog it was until watching this program. They were really nice dogs, but not treated the best in that region. Most were stray dogs living on the streets, but many units took them in as pets and later brought some of them home.

The first time I visited her it came running down the hallway and just stopped in front of me before jumping up putting its paws on my shoulders and looking down on me ( I'm 6 foot), and then slobbered all over me. My friend told me later that she almost had a heart attack as he HATES men normally. I'm an animal lover and I firmly believe that dogs know your intentions. I had nothing but respect for her and would have done anything to help her out as she was the loveliest person I have ever met and I think the dog knew that.

We had 2 well bred Chows male and female. They were the best dogs ever. We had multiple guests at our home extremely frequently and never worried about our dogs harming any of them nor did they ever try to familiar or unfamiliar. I'm assuming they fed off of our emotions. When we had our 1st child they were loving and protective over her. There truly wasn't ever any fear of them hurting her. It's amazing to think about now but I guess it's bc they never showed any aggressive tendencies. They passed away together naturally at the ages of 14 and 16 yrs of age 3 days apart. We'll always miss those two beautiful well behaved 1st babies and even tho our daughter was 3 yrs old when they passed she still remembers and loves them too. Just an amazing breed imo.

Well said, I get so sad and angry when videos like this come out telling people to fear certain dogs, I have worked with dogs for over 30 years (in different environments including as a vet nurse) and have never been bitten, when trained and treated correctly very very few dogs are truly aggressive (there will sadly always be the odd dog that is due to very very poor breeding, which is mostly done to obtain certain colours of different breeds but even then that is only a very very rare dog). Sadly while there are owners who use these dogs to cause fear in other people these dogs will always have a bad rep 😢

I agree with this statement, I've spent over 40 years around dogs and spent most of my working life working with dogs of all breeds including many on this list yet I can honestly say I've never feared one of them (also never been bitten, even as a child who always stroked any dog I saw, including the local car yards guard dog) but I have feared what their owners could do to them, if raised in the correct way very very few dogs will show undeserved aggression towards people. Sadly though there will always be people who will obtain a dog with the sole intention of making it aggressive and using it to terrorise other people and while these people are allowed to own dogs the reputation of these dog will always be seen as poor 😢😢😢.

"There is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners." When you see this, you can be sure that the person making the statement has little knowledge of genetics, and that there are certain lines within various breeds that will become dangerous regardless of excellent treatment and socialization. It is extremely important to checkout the breeder and his or her reputation. This is even more important if the dog is going to be exposed to small children.

She didn't even think of attacking cats, other dogs, people unless you had bad intentions especially when it came to my child. She was Also the most obedient member of the k9 family I've ever had.

My Chi puppy (Wolf/Shepard hybrid) was the friendliest and the most loving animal. He was 180 pounds of pure love and happiness. He was one of the funniness animals I have ever had in my family too. However, if someone TRIED to hurt anyone in my family or break into my house he would protect us yet would not bite...he didn't need to, one look at his teeth and his stance turn people away, that and his deep menacing growl of course!

More than anything, you need to join an obedience class, SOCIALIZE your dog with other dogs, people of all ages, put them into different situations and be ready for corrections, obviously a pup is easier to train because they learn quickly before they get any bad habits. All breeds are the same from birth, they wear different colors and coats, but they are born innocent. Owing a big dog is a huge responsibility, they certainly aren’t for everyone. They need hours of socialization, training and exercise.

In any encounter with a dog that might be aggressive, you must never show fear. I do home deliveries of liquor and beer and sometimes pizza. I've met literally 100s aggressive dogs in over 50,000 deliveries over the years, but I've never been bitten, because I'm not afraid of them and they know it. One time it did a beer delivery to an address I hadn't been to before. I knocked and heard a large dog, barking and growling. A voice said, "Come in", so I opened the door and stepped in. There I met a 6'9", 300lb biker in full colours, trying to control a huge Rottweiler. The dog had a spiked collar, was on a heavy chain leash and barking and growling and gnashing his teeth, straining against the leash, trying to get at me. The biker was "half in the bag" as we say, and lost control of the dog. It charged me, and I stuck out my hand, palm down (don't know why that matters, but it does). The dog put on the brakes and sniffed my hand. I tickled his chin and scratched his ears, and we were buddies. The biker look utterly amazed and said, "I can't believe my dog didn't bite ya'. He LOVES bitin' people!"

I have 2 beautiful, amazing, and most loving German shepherds. They’re great with my kids and other people as well. But yes it does depend on how the dogs are raised but people should still be careful around any dog because some do have more aggressive tendencies than others.

When I saw a dog, I'm not afraid because of their breed. I'm more afraid of their owner. I brought my dogs to the dog park last weekend, there is a dog owner with a three dogs. From far away I can see how this lady did not have any control over her dogs. When she enter the dog park, I immediately pick up my dogs. My intuition was right. First, don't bring three dogs to a dog park if you can't control even a single dog (what are you thinking having 3 dogs when you don't have control). Second, never let your dogs enter a dog park when they are still excited. Third, if you want to stop your dogs doing something you don't like, don't kick them using your feet. That is a recipe to be dangerous dog.

it’s not about how agressive the dog is , it’s how the owner raises them , i know someone with a akita and he is the cuddliest sweetest dog i’ve ever met .
