Might be a little late to this but I found this list very helpful. For users watching this after like I did (as of 1-1-23), Fine Road Tool 2 and Fine Road Anarchy 2 have both been updated and included in the replacement mod Network Anarchy. Both replaced mods will eventually be removed from the workshop as one user pointed out. Extended Managers Library 1.0.3 and Harmony 2.2.2-0 are both required as they provide assets to many mods listed here. City Vitals Watch has not been updated to include the Financial pack yet but as far as I can tell, it is still functional with everything else. Ultimate Eye Candy has not been updated in a long time and another user recommended Render It! instead as it's quicker than Ultimate Eye Candy to implement chosen settings. I didn't go for the cubemap mods so I do not have insight into them. Prop Line Tool is out of date for the current Cities Skyline version and may not work with all content packs. Prop Anarchy 0.7.6 has the updated Prop Line Tool mod included in it as replacement though there is a current bug the devs are working on fixing from what I've seen. I felt it worth mentioning as it might be good to try one or the other and see what works for your game and remember to make fresh saves rather than overwriting. There are two other complimentary mods made by the same dev as Better Road Toolbar. These are Better HealthCare Toolbar and Better Education Toolbar which split up the UI better like how Better Road Toolbar does (no, you do not need the Ability to Read mod as it's a joke). BloodyPenguin's original Extra Landscaping Tools isn't updated for the current game version or for 81 Tiles 2. Extra Landscaping Tools [1.15.1-f4 FIX] is the more recent replacement of that mod. Also, BloodyPenguin's 81 tiles is also out of date and marked incompatible with the game. 81 Tiles 2 TESTING is the more recent replacement. The Loading Screen mod mentioned is also out of date but Loading Screen Mod Revisited 1.1 is the replacement. Surface Painter is having the same issues as Extra Lanscaping Tools and Surface Painter temporary fix is the replacement though there is a bug they are working on fixing. Hide it, Bobby! is currently broken and commenters on the mod page were recommending Hide it! Mod instead. Picker has a Picker beta mod if one or the other is unstable. I hope this is helpful for those who want to add these mods but don't want to fuss with finding replacements for out-of-date things and other versions. There is also Compatability Report v2.2.0 (Catalogue 6.15) to help with finding broken mods in the list or missing things if something goes out of date or require files aren't clearly listed. For those who are new to modding, remember to close out the game completely when adding or changing mods and create fresh saves rather than overwriting in case you need to revert or to help prevent bugs. ~Best!

Could have been worth mentioning that Harmony is required as a backbone for some of these mods to run from. On a clean CS install, just clicking your list above then going into game - it tells you to install Harmony.
@stanleymunro15002 жыл бұрын
You see it alot. Alot of ppl who have used mods or created mods tend to accidentally forget it's needed. It's just an accident. One thing you can do to prevent this is not to just click on the green plus in the steam workshop and go to each asset to verify.
@RobinOttens2 жыл бұрын

For those on lower end machines: use 25 tiles instead of 81 tiles. Game runs better in my experience. FPS Booster and Loading Screen Mod are musts. Don't use too many workshop assets (or any!) as they eat up RAM. Finally, watch your transit options. My simulation speed slows to a crawl if I have too many passengers waiting at a bus stop or terminal.
@Hahlen2 жыл бұрын
How would you define lower end? I’m running a ryzen 5 3600 CPU and 16gb ddr4 3600 cl14 RAM, currently on 25 tiles (only mod I use). Do you think my pc could handle 81?
@charliecarrot2 жыл бұрын
@@Hahlen Great question! I'm running an 8gb m1 Mac mini, so it's pretty non-ideal. In your case you could probably handle it. If you're curious, I like 25 tiles because it simply opens up all possible tiles you could unlock in the vanilla game, but the game limits you to only 9 of the allocated 25. Because of this, you can remove the 25 tiles mod after unlocking them all and they'll continue to work just fine. 81 tiles actually has to add all the extra tiles in, above and beyond what the base game allocates as buildable land. Most people only report problems with tiles touching the edge of the map, so you may find it works well if you stop before that. In my case, I noticed slowdown a lot quicker when I started a city with the 81 tiles mod compared to with the 25 tiles mod. Sorry that I can't provide any more specific details!
@Hahlen2 жыл бұрын
@@charliecarrot it’s so weird to me that they made all the maps so big but gave no way to unlock more than 1/9th of them in the base game
@autolykos98222 жыл бұрын
@@Hahlen Getting more RAM will probably help you. If you use all DLCs, 16 GB is pretty tight on Windows and kinda OK on Linux, but even then it will struggle once you get to ~100-150k pop (which 81 tiles kinda tempts you to exceed). I don't think just unlocking the tiles uses much more RAM, but once you build on them, the game becomes really memory hungry. Didn't have any issues after getting 32 GB RAM (and the rest of my PC is way slower than yours).

81 tiles is great for people like me who like to build several small towns and slowly expand each one of them over time. But also, it's overrides what I consider to be one of the worst systems in the game. I like the mechanic of buying more land, but tiles are the worst way of doing it. It always leads to a situation where one portion of the land that you need is just outside a tile, and you don't want to buy that tile next just so you can develop a tiny area, but it looks really awkward if you don't... Ugh. I always just open up the whole map.

I can think of three additional essential mods: TM:PE this really helps the traffic so you don't have all the traffic on a 5 lane highway backed up in one lane. Touch-it: you can plop a ferry terminal down on a beach, touch-it, and change the road to a viaduct and put the ferry terminal on pilotis (stilts) Roundabout builder: just pick an intersection, adjust the radius, click and you're done! Don't get me wrong, 81 tiles is a great mod to use. However, it runs into some issues, therefore it is unfortunately unusable for me. Everytime I enable this mod and load into my save, it sinks my metro tunnels and underground stations. This is why I call the mod experimental, it is a great "made-up" concept but needs some serious fixing, and why I use the 25 tiles mod instead. If you are going to use the 81 tiles mod, I highly discourage metro tunnels in your city for that reason.
@CityPlannerPlays2 жыл бұрын
If you're going to use 81 tiles, you have to unlock all of the tiles at once to avoid the sinking issue. I should have mentioned that. If you unlock all at once - no sinking issue. Also, not a great mod to add to an existing city... but perfect if you do it early on.

Couldn't find 81 Tiles (by itself) in the workshop. There were a bunch but they were geographically specific by city.

So, are mods only available in the Steam version of CS? I was interested in getting the stand-alone Windows version.

Don’t forget to turn on auto save it’s a lifesaver when the game crashes

Compatibility Report, Loading Screen Mod, Load Order Mod (+tool), FPS Booster (You can set the FPS individually for different things), and maybe some other mods investigate which mods are obsolete and broken

@@Liyahtortilla yeah but the problem is he makes 100million saves. And the list grows into a enormous amount, rather then auto saving the same file over and over and rewriting it. Now you have to scroll in the list forever basically. So that's why I turned that off

@@jafyfaen Cities Skylines only has one "slot" for the autosave, at least that's how it is on my PC. it overwrites itself every time it autosaves. I don't have multiple autosaves "slots". And also in the menu when I click on "load game" there is only 1 "slot" with autosave. as well as in the savegame file folder. I have autosave set to 10 minutes.

nice video. I have cities: skylines got for free in my epic account. OMG you can spend a lot of money for DLC. Do you think it would be enough for a beginner to use your 15 essential mods or do you reccomand to buy a DLC as beginner?

follow this link to get the complete list of the mods, but be aware that 2 of them are currently not working : 81 Tiles and Extra Working Tools, so don't install the two of them.

Is there some way of quickly selecting groups of mods for a session or a city? Sort of like Themes but for Mods?
@earlofal_59632 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a way, I think I remember. I think you can do that with the Loading Order Mod Tool, there's something about creating profiles for your cities...
