I love shortcuts. I have a few challenges for you…. 1. NFC and shortcuts. How to include a 2. KZbin playlist to play upon tapping an NFC tag. 3. Documenting a workout, starting a timer, and playlist. Something like this: Tapping a NFC tag to make it start a 20 minute timer, sending an email or text, making a note in the notes app, starting an exercise playlist on KZbin, setting an alarm to remind yourself to exercise (5 days a work week). Hi Stephen. Thanks so much for this video! One question - I tried configuring the Connect to specific WiFi Shortcut, but could not get it to switch WiFi networks in my house. I have two networks and I want to switch depending on where I am in my house. The shortcut runs but never switches networks. I deleted the portion of the shortcut that plays music so all that’s in the shortcut is the Network name and Password. Where have I gone wrong?

Yea this isn’t actually possible in Shortcuts. He definitely forgot to add the “Open URLs” action which will use the “url” variable he setup, but it gives an error message 😢

You can! You can have the actions detect language and keep the steps as-is, or make a menu where you choose a language before speaking and another menu for which language to translate *to*

Hi Stephen. Really useful. One thing I’m trying to do is turn off silent mode whenever I connect the phone to power. My use case is that when I plug in the phone in the car I’d like to hear notifications and when I unplug it it goes back to silence. So far I found how to unsilence it when connected but not the reverse. Thanks!!!!!

You can use Shortcuts actions to check when something is playing! But the automation needs either an app open trigger or some other option available on the automations tab. Just playing any media can’t be set as a trigger

These are great! Can you do one for an out of office sort of text message? I know there’s a driving mode you can use but it only responds to contacts. I get a lot of non contact numbers texting me and I want to send an auto response to all numbers besides the ones I select to not auto respond to sayin I’m out of office please call the office

Thanks! You want hotspot turn off when what happens? There is an action for hotspot, but it can’t be the trigger for an automation just yet.

I wanted to know if there was some shortcut I can sent up to turn it off as soon as it's turned on. So, the action would be something like... when hot spot is turned on - then hot spot is turned off. I just started looking at Shortcuts yesterday but haven't found a way to do the following: I would like to open the Feedback app, select "Recent Activity", select "IOS & IPadOS 18 Beta 3", search for "Shortcuts", and display the Feedback screen at the point where "Shortcuts" was found. Within Automation I tried "When Feedback is opened", "next", and "New Blank Automation", but did not see any additional actions. I also tried a normal shortcut using "open app" but did not see a way to navigate to "Recent Activity". Obviously, I am going down the wrong path. Can you suggest where I should start? True, man! But I believe this is for privacy reasons... The fact is that on Android you don't really have any privacy with apps. When I was using Android, I used the swifkey option a lot. On android you have the option to favorite the clipboard editor and even what you've copied to the clipboard, it's on the keyboard right above the letters. On iOS you can only access the clipboard from there and even then it's not as easy and fast as on android, because you have to access a swiftey menu to get there and as it's nothing new, there's no option to favorite the content of the clipboard!
