Nice sleek edits, and quick video! I didnt know that they can inject formic acid through their bites, that’s really cool.

Correction* Camponotus Herculeanus is one of the largest in Europe, not in the world. But still pretty large even in the tropics. Camponotus ants like most ants can actually see but they don’t rely on their vision as much as other animals do.

Well done!!! I've been watching Ants Canada for years and I've learned quite a bit from his videos but I've learned more from this ONE video than what he tells the 'AC Family' in an entire year!!! Maybe more!! The truth is, when I found his channel it seemed to be mostly academic, now however, he has become more theatrical than academic!!! THAT STINKS!!! I don't tune in to watch some dang ant soap opera!! That's what we get every week though! I've gotta say, I found this video because I just found ANTS in the house and was curious to know a bit more about them! You just earned another subscriber my friend, GOOD JOB!!!! KEEP ON THE SAME PATH AND THEY WILL COME!!! DON'T SELL OUT LIKE MIKEY!!!!!

Just what I needed and more...excellent...shared with 8,600 people, trying to teach defense of home rather than obliteration on sight. Please be VERY concerned about introducing non-indigenous ants into new areas...study your native species of ants. Introduced species of ants can cause massive and cascading harm in locally diverse and distinct ecologies. Research "crazy ants" to see how major the problems can get.

i love these guys. invasive ants, i can not stand. but the big black ones are so chill, little buddies, they just walk around cleaning up like helpful little friends and all they ask is that i avoid stepping on them when they're patrolling around here 😅 even if you pick them up they are pretty chill, they try to bite you but not in a mean way and they're not very strong. they just kinda look around like ok let me go now lol and they run off.. they just want to chill and eat bug parts. i'm always careful not to hurt these little dudes.

Carpenter ants don't let formic asid from there mouths it's there adbomin
@MyLivingWorldsAnts3 жыл бұрын
When researching ants you will find that it is wood ants, Formica species of ants which spray formic acid from their abdomen but carpenter ants which are camponotus species inject formic acid from their mouth when they bite and break the skin of their opponents. Hope this clarifies

@dallaspilotcar92933 жыл бұрын
@Itsjusta Hellcat The wood is in my fireplace and the chimney goes up to the 2nd story roof. The damage is at the base the support of the chimney I already identified what caused the damage and I am now repairing replacing the wood, but, it will happen again until I am rid of them. I understand you have a love for ants. I have a love for all living creatures until they start to cause me harm or damage.

Best to put down ant traps that offer poisoned food for foregers, taking that food to the heart of the nest. However this will be a lengthly process so it's best to seek out a more quick solution
