My mom bought me an antique, French, marble urn that I converted into a lamp. Light reflected through orange and green marble is so warm and inviting ! I’ve never had a desire to style it with any other pieces. It's a stand-alone piece that I just love. My mother has been a great source of treasures ❤️u mom

I just bought a nautilus shell from a local antique shop the other week. My parents had a nautilus shell from their travels before they had 4 children, but I have vivid memories of that shell on every bookcase of any house we ever lived in. Sadly, when they recently moved, it broke. That shell lasted 40 years and has burned an image in my mind. I wish I had the same nautilus shell on my shelf today that I gazed upon for the first 18+ years of my life for my children to do he same, but I am doing my best to create a home that will inspire thought, creativity, and love... just as my childhood home did for me. Regarding art, you can find affordable originals by young emerging artists exhibiting at co-op galleries, galleries on college campuses, and galleries at public places such as city hall, senior centers and even airport waiting areas. I've purchased some treasures from exhibits in public libraries. Also, paintings, drawings and sculptures can be acquired through rent-to-own programs offered by some big-city art museums. Shop local.

Good bedding is definitely a must including a really good mattress.. My goal is to eventually splurge on a hästens bed... Eventually. In terms of bedding, my best investment so far was silk duvets. It regulates temperature beautifully and truly improves the quality of sleep. To your list, i would definitely add quality items you pick up on your travels. It makes your home unique and tells a story.

Art. Every home needs art. To me, it is the soul of a home. And put coffee beans in your hurricanes. When the candle burns and the wax drips on the coffee beans, it smells divine! I also love indoor/outdoor rugs. We are messy, and have a dog that is only kinda housebroken, and indoor/outdoor rugs can be taken outside, sprayed with a little bleech water, hosed off, and dried. They add texture and softness without any mess stress.

Loved all suggestions & ideas in this video. One thing I have discovered that is a must for me is a great Master Bedroom set of bed sheets. I love the feel of silky sateen sheets in summer for a cool feeling. A great cotton set of sheets in fall. The softest ones I can find. 💕

I think I have multiple house style personalities. I love blue and white ceramics, french country, classic and a bit of modern so I’m trying to buy pieces that fit a couple of styles so decor can be changed up. I want to make a bedhead with interchangeable decorative panels and fabrics (over the foam) but keep the paint colour neutral. Velcro panels will be the secret there, might not sound good but I have a plan so you’ll never know there’s removable panels. Black or navy plates make the colours of the food pop. I struggle with art, I love watercolours, landscape photography but don’t how to pick what’ll work to look classy i.e. canvas versus framed prints. Thinking prints might look better. Got my plants last year and they make a massive difference. I want to wrap up in the faux fur rugs every time you show them. Got some nice diffuses recently too. Great video.

Preparing to purchase a new home as my husband and I go our separate ways. I of course first packed up all the signature accessories that my husband felt were a waste of space. Your 15 list, although in a different order, reminds me of when I made a list of what items I wanted and which items I needed to start keeping my eyes open for. In my northern Ohio home before moving to FL, I let go of a lot of pieces that I wish I would have kept when I moved into the home we have now. I purchased plain white dishes from Amazon and plain clear tall and short glasses as well and I always get so many compliments on them. Also, white towels. People think I'm crazy for having white towels but if you need to replace them you can ALWAYS find white towels.

Lovely video.. Great ideas😊. .... But I hate coffee table books... Definitely not an "essential"..Not in the sense of those big, white, hardback picture(ish) books on nothing of importance. Most people just seem to buy them for show and increase hight of decor they stage on their tables and shelves. On top they are expensive, dust collectors and definitely do not show that someone is "well read" !.. I would rather a real science book or reading book any day!..I also don't find trays or giant glass egg-timers essential! Otherwise the list was great! I like to buy original art pieces (paintings or statues/sculptures) when on my travels around the world as my "souvenir treat"... Love them because they have meaning and are not just an "inanimate object" from a homestore😊.

Great video. I love your sand timer! I never see anyone mention anything about crystal pieces. I love them and I have quite a few that I have had for years. One such piece is a crystal clock by Shannon glass/Godinger that I won at a PTA meeting raffle when I was in the 5th grade! It is now over 20 years old (still works!) and It is sitting on my coffee bar next to a vintage crystal tray that holds my coffee and sugar. Next to that is a silver mug tree that holds my Godinger crystal coffee mugs. Are crystal/glass pieces out? I will never get rid of my crystal clock, but I am just wondering?
