How can you start medical school and have 3 kids? Having kids is a big responsibility and needs full time attention. They want YOUR attention and not a nanny or extra hours in school.

I have five kids and have been a mum nearly twenty years, years ago my grandma told me " when a child is hardest to love, often that's when they need love the most" and over the past two decades I have found this to be true time and time again. Also how different kids are, my five have completely different personalities. They all get things on THEIR schedule, like kernels of popcorn, they don't all pop at once, they do it when they are ready.

Today I cried! The anxiety got the better of me! Then I found this video of yours ! It resignated with me especially when you said you worked 4 days a week with 2 small children and struggled to juggle everything ! My laundry is out of control but when you said about how 'you control your day and how it goes from here' I'm now folding laundry with a smile on my face, thinking about how I can create the best laundry content video tips and tricks for my own KZbin channel! Your video has inspired me to make a positive from a negative and push my mindset to a more positive headspace thank you Emily xx

The first lesson is so on point. I'm a mum of 2, one is 3 years old and the other 9 months old. I'm all the time with them, I'd love to continue with some of my hobbies but seems so difficult and overwhelming. They ask for my attention all the time (the older doesn't even want to play alone and the youngest crawl everywhere and touch everything). Hope it will be better soon. My oldest will start school in September!!!

This video has completely re-centred me. I have been feeling very overwhelmed with motherhood with everything you are expected to do/know/prove/provide as a mum to “keep up with the Jones’”. But hearing these life lessons (especially do not compare!) has helped me remember what being a mum is really all about. Also thinking about my own mum and dad and how they would have been in the exact same situations being new parents raising me, doing what they thought was best for me and doing what they could within their means. This was a great video Emily, thank you for sharing yours and Matts experiences and knowledge on parenting.

I never experienced unconditional love until I became a mother, too. I have four children and I think if one of them experienced hardships or ended up not doing well in life I’d be eighth there for them I will love them no matter what or who they are or become. They are me and I am them. I will love them till the day I die. Never felt that way before.

Number one is my personal favvorite from you Emily. You are the reason I finally took the plunge of starting a new job. My youngest is almost 7 years old and oh my "mum guilt" is a THING! But, your reminder, that having a separate activity on the side besides being a mum, makes us a better mum, is true for me. I was SAHM finding it difficult to give my kids quality attention, especially since Pandemic. You are my inspiration 💕

So true and beautiful! Mom of four and so many times I look at our first born and can’t believe how fast she’s grown. She is so mature for her age and always has been but … sometimes it just hits you harder. Even with my others, I wish I could freeze all the cuddles and take in all the imagination. Being a mother is also all consuming for me, but I won’t want to have it any other way. Grateful for all your video. Thank you.
@louiseparkes21033 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video; the first point really resonated with me, I did find motherhood all consuming as you put it and for the first year (not so much now thankfully) I felt a loss of identity, returning back to work and focusing on my career after my mat leave really helped with that… also I recall speaking to a lady whom also similar in the sense that returning to work was a surreal experience as she was no longer “Joe Bloggs’ mummy” I apologize if I digressed but it’s really important to remember your goals/aspirations and hobbies… in the early stages I struggled with this but realized that essentially it’s part of self-care and as you say makes you feel more refreshed. I guess it’s like that saying “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Thank you for this video .xx

The tip about reacting to things is to true. I’m super clumsy as an adult and was as a kid and my mum would always get so mad when I spilled things. I understand that it can be frustrating to constantly clean up after a child - I have a 2 year old so I get it now - but i try and react in a way that will help the situation. So getting a towel and getting my toddler go ‘help’ me wipe is setting a better example to him than telling him off for something he did accidentally. Also everything is a phase or a season: SO TRUE. I’m struggling with the 2 year old toddler tantrum phase but I remind myself that the human brain continues to develop until 25 years old or something like that! My child is a little kid who has big feelings but can’t express them. I love all these tips!! Thank you so much

Best advice I ever received....you get what you tolerate. If you allow your child to whine, you will get a whining child. If you tolerate them not picking up their toys, they won't see a need to pick them up. It's hard but very loving to guide, train, and discipline them in a way that makes them the best possible version of themselves.

We both find parenting harder and more stressful when there is tension and we are fighting. This normally only happens when we are neglecting each other 🙁 much nicer environment in the home when everyone is getting along x
