Emily, I may not always comment but I always watch your videos. You are so inspiring and I can see that you really care to put a lot into making such motivational videos. You always have great ideas but it also has to do with how you present them. Once again thank you for putting in the time and effort to help all of us, I have gotten such great ideas from you!! I cannot make the bed straight away, the thought of making the bed when it is still warm makes me shudder. I have to open the windows, throw back the covers and air the beds and pillows for as long as possible. Every home has dust mites and they love moist, warm matresses/bedding, it is a perfect breeding ground for them. All the other suggestions are excellent. Thanks for sharing.

I was really struggling with the "don't sit down" rule especially after putting my two toddlers to bed then I have ZERO energy, but I managed to do that by cleaning BEFORE they sleep ! that way I get this superpower and I find myself so focused and cleaning fast because I'm thinking about their bed time

That's the first thing I do after my toddler goes to sleep. Idk why his bedtime routine takes everything out of me. I'm always exhausted after I get him to bed. I totally get you! I sit down probably too much so I need to work on this. I would probably get a lot more done 👍

My 20 month old is asleep before 8pm most days, and I take that time to have to myself and watch TV and get on my phone. Sometimes I stay up til 11 and by them I've rested enough to take care of the dogs and clean the floors

It’s funny because I have always loved these sorts of videos but have always scoffed at some of the common things like the morning/evening clean routines and command centres. Then I had kids. After the first baby, routines became a staple in our house. Now I’ve just had the second baby and I definitely need to implement more of these, including the command centre. There’s just so much more to keep track of with kids than there was with just my husband and I.

I make my bed every morning and by doing that, it encourages me to make sure other things in the room are put away. It is now a habit I have. Definitely agree that habit forming is fabulous at helping to keep things tidier. Great tips again.
@Olga-cr3ig3 жыл бұрын
The GAMECHANGER in organising an ENTRYWAY - is individual "launching station". It means that every family member has one basket (or drawer or something) where he or she has EVERYTHING that he needs to get before getting out of the door - hat, gloves, keys, wallet, sunglasses, perfume, lipstick, whatever. You take ONE basket and you have EVERYTHING you need just in one and you dont need to scramble around different baskets for gloves and hat and all. And it also means that chance of forgetting something is so much less, because if you glance in your basket and its empty - it means you have not forgotten anything! And of course, what is IN the basket should be changed according to the season (hats and gloves at winter, and cap and sunglasses at summer :) ). It is a GAMECHANGER! Even my 3 y.o. toddler dresses herself and dont need a reminder (wear this wear that), she sees herself what is left to wear :) I hope that helps!

Tip number one: Don't buy a small, old, un-renovated home. It never looks as clean as I'd like. Too many crevices, old paint layers, damage, etc. They collect dust and dirt and are difficult to get clean. I can't wait until my home is renovated. So much easier to clean newer, smoother surfaces.

I’m a 70 year old mom to two grown “boys” and I can guarantee they won’t want most of the things you thought were important enough to keep for them. It was hard to watch them just throw it all away. But it was theirs so I stood by and let it go too. I did keep a couple of toys and clothing pieces for their kids. But even those were more important to me than it was to them. Maybe girls are different.
@mrsemilynorris3 жыл бұрын
Aw it’s a shame but that’s made me feel a bit better xxx
@Mieke2563 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure it's different for girls, it wasn't for me! My mother gave me a huge moving box plus extras full of school work, drawings, cards etcetera. She couldn't throw anything away when I a kid. I really had no idea what to do with such a huge box of stuff that just collects dust. I looked through it and realized that memories are in my head, not in things. It all went to the recycling. For my kids now I have a memory box each and only keep the really good stuff (like the first time my daughter drew a human instead of scribbles). I also take pictures of art work and keep an album on my phone. We can look through that anytime they want.

I know most people make their bed, with the quilt fully covering the bed again.. I just fold mine back in half towards the footrest of the bed. I only use white sheets, and I've always used a white flat sheet folded back at the bottom and top end of the quilt. As I get out of bed, I just fold it back neatly, get rid of creases on the fitted sheet. It aires out all day, looking neat and tidy, all white...

Hugs to you, it's just really hard! I have a 5yo and 2yo now and in my experience, the first year is just difficult with all these things. You don't have to do it all alone, a partner or friend can help. What helps with cooking for me, is cooking in the morning when the kids are still in a good mood. Or during a nap that your 3mo takes. If in your budget, buy all the pre-chopped vegetables, or frozen ones. If you have a slow cooker, use it!
@catherine3803 жыл бұрын
With a newborn baby, don’t be too hard on yourself. Self compassion is important always, but especially during this season in your life. Accept help, and don’t feel bad asking for help. Think meals that don’t require a lot of time to prepare, or getting takeout more often is perfectly acceptable and understandable. The house may not look as clean as it used to for a while and that’s ok. If you’re lucky and your baby is a great sleeper so you actually have the energy, you could put your baby in a carrier while you clean if you are feeling up to it, or you could put him/her in a baby swing or bouncer while you get some tasks done.

I love just having one book of handmade stuff from my youth. It's just enough to be fun but not overwhelming. My parents have made me and my sister photo albums too though and I like them, but really don't want them. 15 photo albums just take up to much space I don't have.. Just heard someone talk about a in and out basket in their pantry. Though it was so smart. All the things you buy and are going to use within a few days have a place then, instead of just taking up space on the kitchen counter.
