Yeah so much space, the kitchen is massive also. The crew must love working on this yacht.
@The-Droll-and-LazyJoker2 күн бұрын
It dumbfounds me, that all the guest cabins are extremely spacious. (I get it, it's their boat) Whereas 2 of the crew gets to sleep in the equivalent to a walk-in closet, it seems to me that these crew members would be a bit "cranky" when living at sea for long-term in these... conditions?
@grondhero2 күн бұрын
@@The-Droll-and-LazyJoker The crew generally are only in their cabins when it's time to sleep. Otherwise they're working or hanging out in the crew mess. In addition, while the guests are paying for their space, the crew are being paid. They have no bills. No rent, no electricity, no food, no fuel, no subscription services. And as it's charter, it's also likely the crew work 8-9 months and have 3-4 months off, with pay (although, lower pay).
@The-Droll-and-LazyJokerКүн бұрын
@@grondhero As I said "it's their boat" so I understand that the accommodations will naturally be orientated towards the owner and their guests. But it seems that it doesn't matter if it's a 50 foot or a 150 foot boat, they all seem to have the same "closet space" for the crew. Personally I guess I'm just orientated towards an owner's... cabin Cheers!

Fantastic boat. I worked at Brooks Brothers for years & I recognize the squeak of boat shoes at the very end of the video. I used to ship things to yacht clubs for various yachts. Sometimes I'd ship things to a yacht but not a person, I was told it was the crew's job to know what to do with the items.

Very impressive Nick. Thank you. Great design. 7,800 hp and 40 something knots of speed. Crazy. Just a point of interest. I’m a bit of a fan of battleship New Jersey. She was launched in 42, 887 feet long and a beam of 108 feet. 50,454 tons, and a draft of 37.9 feet. She has 4 turbines with 53,000 hp each(212,000 hp total) and 8-650 psi boilers to run her. At an original cost to build of $1.65B(in todays money($100M in 42)), fully loaded with 1921 crew, she’ll do 33 knots. I guess she was kind of a sports cruiser for the US Navy, so to speak. Don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a bit of a start geek. 😎

I was on the Enterprise back in the 80s. We once hit 42.5 knots on an urgent life-saving mission. Kept that speed up (or close to it) for a day or so. Things were shaking so bad the lids flew off the bug juice machines on the mess decks. I worked in Reactor Dept. and it was like an old Star Trek episode with Scotty yelling "I'm giving it all she's got Captain" . Tragically, the crewmember we were trying to save passed away before we could get within range to fly him off for more advanced medical care. It was a wild, though somber, ride.

Quite the boat Nick, and this is a bit of nitpicking but 2 things, 1st) The dumb waiter system, (is great) the outer door is hinged on the left side facing, thus, forcing the outer door to swing completely open to the left, to have full access to the dining room. If the outer door was hinged on the right side facing, the door will swing open to the right, and therefore the door can be partially opened, (eg. 1/2 way open) and this would not be an issue. 2nd) In the guest cabins, the sink vessels (the carbon fiber is way cool) are way too tall and would be difficult to wash... in.
