I did a jewelry declutter the other day, mostly bracelets, few necklaces... and when the granddaughters came over on the weekend they saw the little basket. Decluttered in less than 15 minutes - great job! I put my outfit for tomorrow out when I come home. Then I take off whatever I have worn that day and jump into my cozy hyggelig homewear. I hadn't jewellery to declutter, so I declutteres vases and smal things which were also in the closet with the vases.

Necklaces are my favorite jewelry, yet I only own about 3. I should pamper and treat myself. What a great idea, vacation necklaces to remember the time away. I have now decluttered all of my graphic and vacation tees because they don't look good on me anymore, at age 46. I used to think I needed a new tee to souvenir our vacation, but finally realized they didn't bring me joy after returning home. Well, anyway, just wanted to share that I have decluttered my jewelry, mostly earrings and bracelets, and yesterday, I finally bought a cleaning caddy in mint green for only 5$. So HaPPY I couldn't get my hands down as DD17 said to me: " Im glad you are just so excited about that caddy, Mom...Even though I could never be excited about such things." ( smiles) She is very calm and more grey/simple in personality, not crazy with her crazy highs and lows as I am. P.S. My favorite necklace in this video is the unique wooden heart locket, so was excited to hear its' story. HaPPY decluttering. You have done so well in your jewelry decluttering, wise choices. Love what you kept, esp the red cherry beads and sparkly silver gems.

Love this video! OMG, Diane I've never been a fancy dresser, just jeans and T shirts mostly, but I have to say, you have encouraged me to start dressing better. I love, love your style and wardrobe. I love your jewelry, but I've never been one to wear a lot of it, just my wedding rings and maybe some earrings once in a while. My big clutter trigger is nick-nacks, I love to collect little roosters, chickens and bird nick nacks. It's the one thing that you'd probably have to rip my arm off for me to let go of them. They are little dust collectors. I have learned to keep them all together in a display cabinet so I can clean them all at once. I have a few I've set out on some other tables and shelves, but most are together in a group. Another great video, thank you Diane. :)

Agreed! Also, add restringing your necklace to your antiprocrastination day! If there is a bead store anywhere near you- I am sure they will help you if you need it. Basic costume jewelry repairs are so much easier than they appear to be. If that necklace breaks you will be so disappointed.

I've got so much jewellery but I love what I have right now. I did declutter it recently I just love to collect things. I'm the same with books and lately scarves. What I find really interesting is how we all have different tastes. A couple of the things you put to swap I'd wear. The flower necklace and the one with all the different things on it. I love charity shopping too but I just buy so much stuff. I definitely need to declutter more often 😂

Regarding unkind internet comments - especially "anonymous", Brene said that she does not "curate" her comments, however, because kindness is non negotiable in Brene land, her message boards are "moderated." I liked that. A lot. You and Brene are two of my role models. I hope that you (or a dear friend) will feel free to remove any comment that is unkind or doesn't further the learning. Well done Diane ,last week I decluttered jewellery that was tarnished do you have that problem ?your full of inspiration , yes I would love u to do decluttering on earrings and much much more, I’m getting better at it ,it’s only you videos every day that push me to re think, I’m the sort of person that I wear a jumper that doesn’t suit me and I don’t like because it cost money but last wk you said every draw ,cupboard find things and decluttering and once I started I couldn’t stop, it made me feel good, thank you 😊

Dear Di - if your jewellery is tarnished because it is real silver, a great tip is to clean it with a good silver polish then wrap it well in special acid-free tissue. I store my sterling silver like this and it is always sparkling like new when I take it out to wear it - even if many months later.

I cleaned out my jewelry box last November and gave my great niece a ton of jewelry. I was debating if i should go back through there but I think I am good on that (for now) i have enough to do in zone 4 this week :-). I have a stand up jewelry box.. I have a lot of jewelry like you do.. I love long necklaces and bright and graphic colors... I love your idea in your wardrobe :-) I just started a fb page for a swap party and added a few people and hoping to do one.. I love the idea but not sure it will fly here in the US.. I will be on Instagram if it works! This is supposed to be anti procrastination day and I am not filling it. I could not sleep last night so I think a nap is on my radar.. Which will get me going for later this afternoon.. Food is prepped and just has to be popped in the oven, morning and mid morning routines are done, so a little nap will be OKAY! I so look forward to your videos! oh and I picked out my clothes for tomorrow already!

Dawn Tillery I'm in the States and have had maybe 6 swaps or more. Everyone I invites LOVES them and can't wait for next one. I usually do one in spring, one in fall. I love hearts too! If you really love the necklace but don't want to wear it, sometimes I've seen people hang them from lamps, from a fancy bottle, or on a picture frame. Is that weird?

Emma 'sflying I have a skinny, scrawny neck so never wear big necklaces that might highlight it! Instead I just wear gold, thin chains. I have a couple, but most just wear tiny diamond heart that my hubs bought 20 years ago for Valentine’s Day :)

Hi Emma! There are plenty of tips online as to how to wear your necklace if you have a large chest/full bust (google it). The main thing is that the beads should stop above your chest or, if it's a pendant necklace, hang well below your chest. But if you don't like necklaces, how about you use some big, bold, long earrings? Or bring attention to your hands (bracelets, rings and coloured nailvarnish)? Hope that helps!

I hate to say this, but if the items you donated to the clothes swap party are anything to go by then I wouldn't attend one of those! Doesn't anyone buy quality jewellery any more?! I'm lucky enough to have collected some beautiful, valuable fine jewellery over the years that I mix and match with one or two QUALITY costume pieces. Quality is the key word! Cheap costume jewellery looks just that - cheap. Dame Joan Collins has a wonderful chapter on jewellery in her vintage book MY SECRETS, I thoroughly recommend it. Among her pearls of wisdom - never wear costume jewellery rings, they always look cheap - rings don't have to be expensive but they should be real sterling silver or real gold - not plated or God forbid made of base metals. Quality costume jewellery can look even better than the real thing - former First Lady Jackie Kennedy never owned any real pearls, she preferred to wear Czech made faux pearls, crafted to the highest standard from glass - she preferred their look and weight to real pearls.

Does anybody wear pins anymore? I have quite a few of them. I've decluttered some of them...I find that now I'm a grandma, I look too "granny" wearing them. What do you think? I think, Diane, that you decluttered the right ones. The one that you put on top of your head is pretty. Maybe if you wore it with a heavy "jumper" to balance the weight of it?....

Wear what you love!! Consider grouping three small pins on a sweater. Put a large one on your coat. Try hanging a pin from a chain to wear as a necklace. And by all means, make a way to display your pins in your bedroom: Frame a piece of velvet with a bit of padding underneath to show off those pins. I am speaking to myself here....I am so inspired now - not only to declutter, but to WEAR my jewelry!!
