I don’t care about which season/era was better, these episodes and jokes are still funny to me whether it be from episode one with the reefblower or with that one episode with plankton telling a grandma to be put in a coffin and pushed down the river. Both moments you mentioned were still when spongebob was still watchable and maintained the humor it was known for. There's a reason why modern spongebob has to repeatedly rehash old jokes and run them into the ground. Modern spongebob has lost all creativity and intelligence in the writing of the jokes. As somebody else who is also a long standing spongebob fan and literally grew up from diapers watching it, modern spongebob is awful and genuinely makes me uncomfortable in both how it's written and animated.

Then the goal post is moved forward a bit to add season 4, then 5, then 6, 7, even 8 is getting talked about a bunch. Ya know the one with the “Face Freeze” episode (which I liked but has the grotesque face in it). They also swear to never show their children modern spongebob. ???? ???? I get that some jokes seem not as well structured as the old seasons or the art style is disturbing for some since it’s going for more Ren and Stimpy energy due to Vincent Waller, which is fine for me because I grew up on that but I agree will be jarring for a show like spongebob. At the end of the day, I watched this out of context video with Scotty and Anthony and still laughed at the jokes and faces being shown.
