Imagine that Putin was so envious that he destroyed the world's largest aircraft, the Antonov An-225. Of which there was only one.

2 rigs were constructed by Kaiser in Vallejo, CA in the late 70's. Both were launched and towed through the Golden Gate to the northern Alaska oil fields. I saw them leave Vallejo and the next day as they passed Ft Bragg, CA. Quite a sight.

I'd say either or both of these two - the operation to slowly move the massive New Safe Confinement over Reactor 4 of the defunct Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the operation to parbuckle and then refloat the partially-capsized Costa Concordia cruise ship from its resting place against the island of Giglio. Those two were especially epic for different reasons - the NSC, now in place for a couple of years, allows operators to slowly deconstruct the Object Shelter, or sarcophagus, over the Chernobyl plant and take closer looks at what remains of Reactor 4 and maybe, just maybe, find the bodies that were lost in the initial Disaster; and the Concordia, raising and refloating a massive cruise ship that partially capsized on the coast of the Italian island of Giglio after it ran aground and tore a massive hole in the port hull. Just turning the massive vessel over took quite a long time, and getting the thing floating to where its nameplates on the bow were once again above the waterline was longer than that due to the massive sponsons that needed to be built and then welded securely to the Concordia's hull and then the water pumped out, refloating the massive vessel and allowing her to be towed on her final journey to being scrapped at Genoa.

I worked at a DOE site in Paducah for a bit. They had hundreds of those containers. They last a hundred years in Paducah or Pittsburgh or ... When they get to Beatty Nevada, and get buried 35m deep, they last 10,000 years minimum. The containers need only be strong in case of a train or truck collision during transport.
