Big Tips: You can place any item in your "Backpack" item from your starting inventory and place said backpack on your hot bar for quick access to a bunch of items. Particularly handy for special arrows and potions. New arrows or pots picked up or given to that character will automatically go to the stacks in the backpack too! Combine a Poison Barrel with every weapon you have to give it permanent poison damage. Great for upselling your old gear and unneeded weapons. Nails + any Boots will give it Immunity to Slipping - perfect if your party has a hydrosophist making ice surfaces. Nails + claw or repair hammer gives you 4 lockpicks per nail.

For my aproach (playing blind and for the first time) I explored every nook and cranny except for fire slug cave. I killed the guys playing cards. I healed the guy at the healer then when he was not going to give me a reward I killed him and the healer. I left the blind elf behind because I was gonna leave her for good but later found out I can come back to Fort Joy. I got my teleportation gloves. I found the missing food crate. As companions I choose the rebel dwarf, red prince and killer elf. I talked with Stingtail as red prince and I let the she elf kill him. I talked with most people my companions wanted me to. I refused the quest for teleportation gloves (didnt know it was for them). And I got rid of my collar also killing a patrol officer on my way out. I also killed the hidden frogs and the boss at the beach. And for the escape I used the key that the rebel dwarf got from the arena after teleporting the elf up high. I looted most of the main building and sneaked out into the swamp. I doubled back through the sewers and saw some crazy monks so I went back. Overall I basically explored everything. I plan to come back using teleportation too to kill them all. Why? Because durning one of the g fights somebody killed my black cat.

You can only steal once per NPC so while on fort joy you should wait till lv 3 or 4 depending on if you have lone wolf on or not. That way the skill shops have 2nd tier books and they are easier to get. If you steal early which is tempting, you may not have the gold to get the skills you want when you lv.

If I might add, certain NPCs you may want to wait until level 6 when you can get a third point into thievery if you want to maximize your money. Nabora, Hilde and Griff come to mind. Assuming you didn't kill the last two. They have the most money in the camp as far as I seen. There is also always a chance you may run into a +thievery item on the island to further increase the profits.

^ Yeah, like he said, it’s once per character per NPC, so if you have multiple party members with Thievery, they can each steal from an NPC one time. Whether you run a LW duo or a 4-man, it might be helpful to have a few points in Thievery with a 2nd character (or all of them if you want to go that route) to increase the loot you can get for free from vendors and such, or give yourself the opportunity to get a certain item now, but then come back after a refresh or level up to get new, better items.

You don't have to teleport away after stealing. You can either quickly learn the stolen skillbooks and they disappear or you can throw all the stolen gear on the ground. Then let them search you and when they don't find their stuff you're good to go.

Just bought the game, played 3 hours and I must say that I wasn't expecting tactician to be this difficult, I managed to pick up a lot of quests and complete some but fights are absolutely PAINFUL. I managed to get my hands on a cool "golden" Armor one of the vendors has, as well as some other armor pieces but I still get shredded like nothing :{

I would recommend trying the game on classic first. Gets you a feel for the game and mechanics as a whole. Tactician is meant for when you have a good grasp on encounters and combat.

People new to CRPGs claim that CLASSIC is hard. This game does't fuck around, it's old school difficulty, but with a lot of old school cheese possible too. Speedruns in this game are nuts lol.

So when Larian was first designing this game, they created an AI that was able to mop the floor with most of the playtesters. Afraid it would hurt their sales, they decided to create an entirely new watered-down AI from scratch and use it on the Classic and Explorer difficulties, but kept the original AI to use on Tactician for the sake of giving advanced players a challenge. I had the same problem when I first started. I played the first DOS multiple times, and just like a lot of games, you’re meant to beat it on a lower difficulty first, then step up to progressively harder difficulties on further playthroughs once you’ve mastered the mechanics and improved enough skillwise to handle it. This game is not the same. The difference between the lower difficulties and Tactician isn’t just a step up - it’s a whole new set of rules and mechanics that you have to master or you’ll get absolutely wiped. It’s like graduating from checkers to chess: sure, they’re both played on a board with pieces that move and capture, but one isn’t just ‘harder’ than the other, they’re totally different games.

Nobody ever tells you when one should remove the collar at fort joy, or list the quests to finish before removing it. Including some companion quests become locked out if you remove it, particularly iban's quest.

I just got this game cause I couldn't afford the new one that's popular. It's a great and crazy game. I'm not familiar with the setting, or the type of game, so it's been a lot of learning. Very fun though, so immersive. I'm the guy that usually skips dialogue, so I was concerned, but I don't want to in this game. I highly recommend.

I beat everyone up with a box. Literally. There's a few in the beginning that don't break. 50 pounds. Plenty to move onto enemies for damage on the hardest difficulty. A great tip is sneaking around and using the red line of sight from enemies. I never used the guerilla perk tho as there's better. However... now that I've beat it twice it may be worth it. Instead of pet talking lol.. which is rarely worth it. Situational and there's no important items. In fort joy there's a key you get from a dog BUT there's a way to dig next to him I believe... you get like 3k exp tho freeing the dog (use Agility I think, or is it dexterity lol I forget I just started another game) the dog in a cage don't let him give up.. he wants to die don't do it! Oh and get assassins bow! I used 2 Rangers just to use that. I used the dlc to level it up and stole items needed easily. Don't spend 5k each lol it gets expense. It works on every single weapon n armor btw it's worth using just to avoid new weapons every darn level. Shoot doors with arrows don't attack em with any melee. The weapon u get to assassinate (shadow eye?) Is the best weapon if u upgrade it until a dungeon late game I forget the name sorry.. a dwarf drops the best one at like lvl 19ish and you have to fight Karin for him to spawn with it. Karon? Spelling lol some crazy mage in sewers and he'll disappear if you go in there n leave btw n it's lost forever Google it. Stupid autocorrect ignore misspelling I'm sick of fixing em.

I'm on my first playthrough and just got out of fort joy after 25 hours, could've escaped much earlier but I really wanted to do everything I could there. It's my first CRPG game and its being an absolute amazing experience, I had this game in my steam library since like 5 years ago and I really regret not give this genre a try sooner, and people say BG3 is even better... I have a lot of hours of fun in front of me. Does anybody know any similar games that have this level of quality? The only one I've read is good is pillars of eternity.

It’s a hard task to find high quality games. With that said, another similar game is Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. It has more DnD elements compared to DOS2, but still quite good. Other Pathfinder games are also worth mentioning.

It’s viable regardless of what you do, but it’s always best to stick with one. With physical damage, you’ve got rogues, archers, knights, necromancers, and polymorphs. With magical damage, you’ve got the elements. There’s plenty of variety when you look at it that way.

"Everyone" is full of shit and just regurgitates what they read online(basically, your typical Reddit user). The game was designed for a mixed party, very cleary. Almost every fight starting at act 2 will have a mix of enemies that have either a lot of physical armor or magic armor. Running all phys or all magic is just dumb, I don't care what anyone says. You have your mage focus the melee that have low magic armor while your melee/archer focuses THEIR mages who have low physical armor. Support character buffs whoever they can, then your 4th slot is whatever. Even with 2 characters in lone wolf, 1 magic and 1 physical is ideal. But hey, I've only beat this game on every difficulty what do I know lmao.

@@Lebensmude no it's not lol. That is an absolutely asinine idea and I don't know why people keep repeating it. Running all physical damage means that you WILL fight enemies that have literally 4-5 times as much physical armor as magic armor, and you WILL have to break through that because you decided to listen to Reddit and not bring a mage. The same thing applies if you bring nothing but magic users, you WILL have to tear through massive amounts of magic armor on at least 1/3 of the enemies. Look at every big encounter, almost all of them will have a mix of enemies. Hard hitting mage to focus their high phsyical armor characters(usually their melee). Hard hitting physical damage character to hit their mages. This is literally the best way to finish encounters faster. You have your damage characters go after their targets. You have a lot of options for how you do this but if you running an entire part of 1 damage type you're an idiot who doesn't understand the game, period. This game was designed around a full, balanced party. People who claim that 4 man mixed parties are harder than 2 man lonewolf have literally no idea how to play these types of games lmfao.

@user-uf9bs7kb4e I’m not agreeing nor disagreeing with your statement here, but this is a video for players who are new to the game and probably on their first playthrough. As stated above, anything is viable. The idea of sticking to one damage type for the first campaign is simply because new players often stretch their builds too thin and tend to hit a wall gameplay-wise. Many players quit because of that. Even if they stick to just one damage type, any encounter in the game they come across can be brute forced in some way in their favor regardless if they do pure magic or physical. Until they gain more experience with the game and further understand mechanics what is expected, it would likely be easier for them to focus one damage type.

tip 9 solution: you can give the ring back to the magister, then steal it from her as she prepares to leave for the beach, that way, completing the quest and get the ring back without having to kill them, but you might want to kill them regardless unless you already stole everything from Migo beforehand

No spoilers of course, but after Act 1 (Fort Joy) whoever you do not have in your immediate party will be gone for good. Choose who you wish to bring with you, and don’t be afraid to restart to play with other companions.

The game definitely takes some getting used to, and the beginning is the most daunting part of the game. However, you can play the game in any way you desire and there are levels upon levels of customization. The main benefits to this game is the vast customization, deep combat, and amazing story. I would just say give it a try and be open to the turn-based combat, as everything else is non-reliant on turns and the pros of the game, in my opinion, heavily outweigh the cons.

Good video games are often about making interesting decisions. One way to make a decision interesting is by forcing you to make it quickly. This game can't pull that lever, yet in and out of combat this game has given me some of the most interesting decisions I've had to make in the entire medium. If the scale of the complexity is an issue for you, I recommend playing through with two prebuilt characters with Lone Wolf on Explorer difficulty. This makes narrative and inventory wrangling easier, so there's less barriers to you getting into the flow of the combat and exploration. You can always up the difficulty once you get the hang of things. If you are at all interested in immersive sims and the craft of making a responsive illusion for people to live in, DVOS 2 is a big recommend.

You may have unchained your party on accident. If the frames are separated then they are unchained. If you’re on PC, make sure you click and drag the character frames back into each other. If you’re on console, hold LT or L2 and reconnect them.

If you do things right, and take your time, pick the right skills, it can be super easy. Me and my friend are doing a duo run, with a witch and sorcerer, both with lone wolf, and we fkin destroyed the arena.
