amazing content! only critique is you do this annoying pronounciacion that all young americans do where you have to pulll out the last syllable to extreme length. bodoniiiii, garamooooond, styyyyyle, which makes you come across as slightly too american (no offense intended!) thanks for the video.

One niche you didn't touch on that I kind of stumbled into is book cover design. It's similar to album art, often utilizing illustration and photo manipulation. But you also have to play with typography for the title and blurb on the back and even typeface design if a series is looking for something unique.
@TehGoRy Жыл бұрын
and so editorial design, data visualization, etc...
@ksenianarodovska1731 Жыл бұрын
I would also add Film designers like Ann Atkins. They recreate a lot of period design and make many different stuff from posters to lettering, newspapers and some other props. So it’s a mix of poster design, datavis, typography, lettering, packaging etc.. Oh and also Packaging designers.

as a designer, it’s kind of hard to pick a specific niche to follow through with. it’s also good to know that you have unlimited options to choose from, and that you can master each style if you choose too. it’s a fun world to be in. the world needs designers. go for what best fits you, and showcase that talent to masses!

My dad was a graphic designer and did just about anything design and art could be on. He was old school when everything was drawn by hand and pasteups and mechanicals in the 1970's through 1990's. You left out a very important group of designers in design history that if you want to be a good designer they should be looked at. I'm kind of disappointed you did not cover them because most of today's design is a return to what they were doing in the 1960's through 1980's. Look at Alexander Girard, Paul Rand, Art Chantry, Milton Glaser, Mike Salisbury, John Van Hamersveld, Raymond Loewy and Chip Kidd. They set the bar and are still very relevant. You have got to know this work if you are doing graphic design.

Thanks for introducing these... I think schools could give a bit more of an overview like this to students cause essentially everyone starts with a career in graphic design, and often I saw ppl get stuck in only doing graphic design, while like me personally found myself feeling a lot more intuitive in motion design. In the end graphic design does give a needed foundation to practice any of these nieches, so go do the hard work even tho you might not end up working so much with the core editorial/image base graphic design.

Hello Jesse! i am 15 and going to college to pursue graphics next year! i wanted to know what you think would be best for someone who is better at photography and editing as opposed to drawing but can draw if necessary? im thinking maybe posters, music or album covers but i am still not 100% sure.
