My kids didn't celebrate Halloween when they were kids. Their Christian schools called it Heritage Day, or Colonial Day. They dressed in costumes as patriots from the 1600 thru 1900's. Whomever they dressed up to be, they did a report on that person. (i.e. Pilgrims, George or Martha Washington, Betsy Ross, Paul Revere, Ben Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Adams, Jefferson, Harriet Tubman, Eli Whitney, Sacajawea, Louis & Clark, Astronauts, Daniel Boone, Presidents, inventors, etc) I loved to see the choices all of the children made. That night the schools had Harvest Festivals, and the kids wore their costumes. It was a day for fun and learning our history.
