I'm 5'0 and it's difficult because you don't want to give off the 'wrong vibe', but you also don't want to be a box :/ I'm an hourglass and growing up wished to wear flowy clothes (like a fairy) like models do, but it just doesn't look the same. I keep it in mind now, I see a lovely shirt and think, wow she looks amazing ... but I just know that on me that'll look terrible, not flowy, but more like a fat potato sack, even though I'm slim.

I relate so hard to the short torso problems. I’m 5’2 and always joke my torso doesn’t exist lol so finding tops that actually stop at a flattering point is always a struggle. I love the cropped jeans tip...I almost always cuff my jeans to achieve that look and it always balances my frame much better!!

How I love to wear button down shirts is with a cami underneath and button to just under the bust. This way I get the shaping that I need and I don’t have to worry about a gap in between buttons when buttoned over my bust. I think it looks quite flattering. Good tips on this video! Thank you

A huge problem I have with buying jeans that aren’t petite or short is if the jeans have holes in the knees the holes are always nowhere near my knees!! I got a pair of jeans at target with holes and I thought they were short jeans but they weren’t. The knee holes were like on my shin. It was so frustrating

I'm 5'2 3/4". I recently bought a dress from the regular section that I thought looked great on me. It was a silk, 1940s inspired LBD that came to my knees and hit my waist perfectly. I felt awesome in it. When I actually looked it up on the store's website, I found that it was meant as an empire waist and came up mid-thigh on the two models shown XD. So, what was meant as a casual day dress for a normal-sized person became a lovely, retro nighttime dress on me.

Surprisingly enough the video actually makes the outfit look MUCH better than the outfit does in person. In person the outfit makes me look really short, unflattering, and stumpy :p I still think it portrays a good idea of what I'm talking about though!

I'm 31 and finally committing to a better style proportion for my frame. 5' even with a looooong torso and stubby lil legs, combined with a very small frame makes for confusing shopping. For years I've tried piggybacking onto the juniors or even kid's section (??) but for reasons most obvious, those looks were even more unflattering. I'd like to embrace my current age, lest I evoke the image of my 14 year old self in a NIN shirt and oversized hoodie. Yikes. Love this video, many great tips in here! I've always avoided maxi dresses & skirts - even with heels, they make me look like a kid dressing up in her mom's outfits. Huge prints, as you said, are definitely a nope, much as that crushes my soul. I have no bust whatsoever (talking 30A here) so V necks can work with high waisted pants. Also, high waisted anything. The early 2000's trend of the pubic bone-riding jean button makes my legs look like stumps. Mini skirts work if they're purchased at regular size store, but they won't exactly be mini (which is fine for my age). Also reiterating that tops / rompers are definitely going to fit funny outside of petite size. Straps too long, sleeves falling off the shoulder. If you dare to shop online as a petite woman (live a little!) look carefully at the measurements posted next to the garment description. And remember, the model in the picture is probably 5'9" or 10" - in fact, many companies now post the height of the model and the size she / he is wearing for scale. Thank you again for posting this! I fall right between 5'3 and 5'4. The average height for women in my country is like 5'6, and our clothes tend to be designed for taller people. We don't have petite stores or even stores with petite sections. Solution? Scour the children's section for something halfway adult looking. I'm 27 years old.
