I noticed it's a regional thing......out in the big city on the West Coast even Cabela's is usually not stocked with 410 even when there isn't ammo drought......I've since moved to where I hunt in the interior NW in a tiny little town in the mountains.I can't get a Starbucks coffee or a McDonald's burger in a 100 miles but there is plenty of 410 as it's always been popular here.

I got one today. I had to take in consideration my wife and 13yr old son need to be able to handle the gun as well. Fun to shoot and seems like it will get the job done with home defense. If not Avtomat Kalishnikov will make an appearance.

Thanks. I'd never paid attention to this tool until this video. They seem to have gotten a lot right but sighting is so fundamental that it amazes me that they didn't make it easier.

I think 13 years on the market is a pretty good mile marker for the KSG. Not saying there wasn’t bumps in the road but I also know 70% of everyone that I have seen having issues looks like a personal technique issues. You (not you personally) can not run a pump shot gun with kid gloves on, you have to run it like it owes you money!! Now I get it, all manufactures have some lemons but at some point you (not you personally) got to just stop blaming the company when the track record stands that there are some proven reliable items from this manufacturer. For the record, I personally am not a Kel Tec fan boy, I actually prefer IWI, it just gets old seeing people bash a company just because of a hiccup when all of the industry is guilty of it.

Great video as usual. I wish someone would start making 20 gauges. My wife likes the 20 gauge. She'll shoot my 1100's and 1301 in 12 gauge but doesn't enjoy it. She wants nothing to do with my A5 or Benelli Nova. I don't mind adds during a video because hopefully it helps put jingle in your pocket, but they just slapped us in the face with the add I got. It was a donate to Biden and Kamala 😳 Keep up the incredible content you put out. I check for new videos every day. It should warm up pretty quickly for you. I think it’s pretty cool and you could tell that it cycles well and handles recoil real well. Shame about the point of aim on the sights, but an optic will probably clear that right up for you.

I like the 410 round. I had a Shockwave but traded it for a Remington 870 TSS Turkey pump shotgun. The stock is mossyoak camo. Nice hunting/bugout gun.

Escort now offers a Turkish made knockoff of the KSG/KS7 called the BullTac in .410, 20 and 12 gauges. It is half the price of the KelTec. It’s probably more than half the gun, they look pretty well made.

Yay! Someone finally made the perfect Home Defense weapon for my 5 ft 1, 110 lb girlfriend. Unfortunately, Kel-Tec did it😅 The only brand of ever brought home, and felt the need to do finishing work with an X-Acto Knife. Funny you mentioned the circuit judge. Almost had her talked into one of those several years ago

My mom, who's in her 70's, is less than 5' tall, and only weighs about 90 lbs. soaking wet, bought one of these. She has no problem getting behind the sight. She shot it very well with several types of shells. I shot it several times too. I'm 5' 9" and 250+lbs. I didn't notice a problem getting behind the sight either. Reloading it during a fire fight would be a death sentence however, it's almost a death sentence just loading it, without being in a fire fight. We did have some malfunctions when we were using 2.5" bird shot. Thankfully it worked great with 3" defensive loads. The malfunction would occur after shooting through the first magazine on the second mag the third to last round, would stick in the chamber. It happened all three times we shot that ammo. The extractor would slip off the rim of the shell and would not grab it again, even setting the magazine selector to the middle and racking it several times would not extract the shell. The only way to get it out was to pry it out with a knife or I suppose you could put a cleaning rod or something similar down the barrel. At the end of the day my mom decided she likes her Extar EP9 better for home defense.

Keltec does a lot of cool firearms innovation. I really don’t understand why other big names don’t get into the bullpup thing. A reliable semi-auto bullpup .410 or 20 gauge imo has the potential to be a allstar home defense set up especially with dual tubes like this one.

If there's a bad (hot) load it has much more potential to damage the shooter than a rifle/shotgun with a more traditional action. Otherwise I actually really like the concept.

There is one company that makes a few nice bull pups , IWI. I have a Tavor TS12 with the three rotating magazines that hold five 2.5” shells in each tube, or four 3” shells. That’s up to a 15 + 1 capacity, and the ability to have 3 different types of loads in one gun. Check it out y’all.

I just bought the KSG 410. I wanted something for home defense that my wife could handle and this looked like a great option. Would you mind doing a video on how to install the sight upgrades and if you decide to change the slide out for something with picanny on the bottom to accommodate a pistol grip that would be awesome. Judge with 000 Federals and Crimson Trace white light on a lug rail. Works great as a home defense tool. If it fits your situation. It's but one option.

People kind of overlook 410 shotguns but in theory, if this was someone’s SHTF/ bugout/ budget 1 gun, he/ she could carry a lot of .410 compared to 12ga 😀

I installed the optional pic rail on my .410 and installed some Magpul iron sights. It’s perfectly comfortable and accurate to shoot, especially slugs

It allows for a comfortable cheek weld. I did however have to send mine back for servicing. Keltec installed an upgraded selector switch and a new bolt assembly. I was having light strike and feed problems.

I'd have to play with one to know for sure, but either they made the" sights" to work like traditional shotgun beads ,meaning you DON'T aim ,you point and they are alignment/lead references that are not focused on OR you got a defect of some sort... Shotgunning is a completely different discipline than rifle shooting and unless it's a slug gun , using them as you would a rifle causes issues. When off camera , pattern it . Find poa/poi on a refrigerator box and then do the standard patterning exercises . It's very possible you are just trying to add too much distance by aiming for a tool designed for home defense . So another option is to Try home defense distances of 3,5,7,10 and 15 yards. Obviously if you want to, but all shotguns should be patterned to know shot distributions. Does it take screw in chokes ? If it's just a cylinder bore ,it's a .410 so start thinking in terms of feet away . 50 feet is stretching it's legs with such a short barrel and wide "choke".

These sights are meant for front/rear alignment. They even show you the "correct" sight picture you should use. It's just terrible alignment for the height over bore and since you have no drop on the stock, it's a real chore even trying to get behind it. I have a picc rail on the way to fix it up.😎👍

I had a Keltec Sub2000 that was a weird color between ODG and FDE. I don't think KelTec puts a lot of effort into matching exact colors for their polymer parts.

Hey Tools was waiting on this video I figured you picked up that KSG .410! I agree with you I really like the concept and how handles but that sight picture would be tough to maintain. Having to hold that far above is tough and not a normal practice. Glad you did a first thoughts and shots on this new Tool. Are you supposed to maybe put the triangle on top of the square (instead of behind it) so it looks like a little house with a green roof? Personally I think the grab handle style sight looks pretty ugly too. I really like the idea of this KSG-410 as the regular KSG has a lot of kick and you really have to shuck it aggressively to get it to feed the next round. I just like a 410 as there are a ton of different rounds and it would make the a great gun for plinking, home defense, hunting... I think a red dot would go well with this gun.

I have the KS7. It has the same issues with sight over bore and getting low enough to properly sight. I have the Pic rail for it, but was wanting to save it for the KSG410 when I get one. (I have an In-Force light attached to my KS7 and like how it sits on the front of the carry handle and don't really want to change it.

Glad you mentioned it.. damn thing killing my neck..... ended up bore sighting it, zeroed my lazer to it and shoot it from the hip, my neck feels much better...lol. First time I took the gun to the range the RSO was telling me im not using the sights??? took his suggestion contorted my neck and shot like shit after..... was doing better when I was guesstimating......... still like the gun tho

The sight/sight picture may work for you, but it sure didn't for me. I have fixed it up since this and need to do an update. Ended up ditching the handle for the full rail and put some flip up sights and a red dot on it.

That would make it impact even lower. I'd have to add height to the rear to bring the impact point up, unfortunately. I have a picc rail on the way for it to just stick a red dot on and get rid of the handle.😎👍

The Mcarbo Aluminum Trigger upgrade is definitely worth it. Although I found the stock 5lbs fine, the Aluminum upgrade is worth it. I think you are also running into height over bore at close range with the standard sights.

Oh there's no doubt there is height over bore at close-up, but this thing shoots 3 feet low at 25 yds if you line up the sights.😂 They're just poorly positioned and non-adjustable, unfortunately. I've had a KSG for years, the original design without the carry handle. I have a Tasco 40mm red dot mounted on the Pic rail. I've never had to do any contortions or hold my head in strange ways to mount the gun and see through the red dot. I would definitely not be interested in one with that big handle on it. Naturally the point of impact would be low because of it.

I liked this gun and was thinking of getting one, but then I was turned off by the 410 feature. I wish there was a 20 gauge version available. That would have been ideal. Seems as if a 12 gauge is too extreme and a 410 is too rare (harder to get shells), why didn't they just make it at the sweet spot in the first place (20 gauge).

I actually have more .410 than 20 gauge ammo at the moment. The 20 is a lot easier to find for most folks though.

I like the idea of this, especially the capacity , but I don’t trust KelTec. I REALLY like the idea of a 410 upper on an AR, but I’m not sure any of those are up to par, either. Would love to see your take on one of those, if possible. Until then, I might settle for a 419 Shockwave. Decisions, decisions…

I have totally written off a .410 AR. I would never trust that. I don't have numbers, but I'd be willing to bet that detachable mag based shotguns are the worst as far as reliability, especially a "conversion" type setup in a platform it wasn't meant for. Most places have trouble even getting simple .350 legend AR uppers to function reliably, much less a shotgun shell.

KelTec 10 out of 10 for innovation, sadly often 5 out of ten for actual construction and utility. My PMR-30 runs 100% though, can't complain. Cute gun though.

410 is very popular these days. It's kinda like 9mm, not super powerful, lots of different ammo loads. I will stick with 45acp and 12 gauge. Doesn't mean I don't own a 410 or 9mm, kinda a coll idea
